WELCOME BACK MUSTANG BAND!!!

I am so excited to welcome everyone back! Percussion, Guard and Leadership start this week and FULL BAND next week. See all the details below and make sure that you come prepared with all of your things. If you haven't been outside much this summer, it is time to get out and acclimate. It's also means that you need to drink lots of water daily, but hopefully you are already doing that. It's going to be an amazing year and I hope you are ready because your staff is ready to go! We have 3 movements of music ready to roll and the beginning of our drill and it's going to be awesome!

July 18-22

This week is Guard and Percussion CAMP Monday- Friday

7:30 AM- 4 PM

Percussion will have a parent demonstration at noon on Friday

Leadership Monday and Tuesday 10AM- 2 PM

WEEK 1 FULL BAND CAMP July 25-29

Full Band Camp

Monday- Friday

7:30 AM- 4 PM

Friday, July 29 we will have an end of week Lock-in 5 PM- 11 PM

This is optional but highly encouraged, you won't want to miss out on this time to celebrate the end of our first week of band camp!

WEEK 2 FULL BAND CAMP August 1-5

This week has been updated with some adjustments to the schedule due adjusted Professional Development Schedules. Some of these adjustments were accommodations made to allow us time to go outside earlier in the morning since the afternoons and evenings stay so hot. Please look ahead and make arrangements for rides. Please utilize the Parent Band App to help with rides needed this week. This our first week we are allowed to start learning drill and it's imperative that everyone be present. We are keeping a close eye on heat guidelines and weather and will adjust as much as necessary to ensure that students are proceeding with rehearsals that are safe. Thank you in advance for being proactive to work this out!

7 AM- 9:15 AM

7 AM- noon

Wednesday, 8/3 (FULL DAY; bring lunch and dinner this day)

7 AM- 4 PM (Rehearsal will be followed by our meet the teacher and Meet the Mustangs)

4 PM will be your dinner break

Freshmen will attend Round up; everyone has time to attend meet the teacher with your parents

EVERYONE be in the bandhall at 7 PM with instrument in summer uniform to get set on the field for Meet the Mustangs. This is our first group performance!

PHYSICAL FORMS

ALL students must have a physical form, completed by a physician and turned in to the band office PRIOR to their first day of camp. IF you haven't turned this in, you can bring to the band office during this week and put in the drop box on the bandhall office door.

Percussion and Guard must bring this form with them first thing in the morning July 18 unless it's already in.

The band calendar has also been adjusted to give the students a break during a portion of this week. Please refer to the band calendar and make sure that you are clear for all band activities as fall break is at our busiest "In Season" of the year!

BAND FEES

At this time, all fees should be made through CHARMS. SKYWARD fees will need to be paid beginning in August. Please make sure that you have paid your first $300 toward your CHARMS account by the end of this month! If for some reason, you are behind with this balance, please get caught up by the end of July. If you are unable to do so, please contact Mrs. Taylor and the treasurer to set up a payment plan.

Meet Mr. Hayes

If you'd like to stop by sometime this week our new director, Mr. Jordan Hayes would love to meet you. His information should be updated soon on the website, see his bio below:

Mr. Hayes is excited to be joining the Sachse band program as an Assistant Director.

Mr. Hayes has spent the past three years at Melissa High School as Associate Director of Bands where he taught Symphonic Band, beginner classes, team taught the Jazz Band, and was Visual Director for the Marching Band. Prior to his time in Melissa, he started his teaching career in 2017 as an Assistant Director at Tyler Legacy High School near his hometown.

Mr. Hayes grew up in small town East Texas where he graduated from Winona High School as a trumpet player and drum major. After high school, he attended Texas A&M University - Commerce and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Music Education and a minor in business. While in college, he was a section leader for the Pride Marching Band, performed in a variety of ensembles including brass choirs and jazz band, and was the treasurer for Kappa Kappa Psi. He marched two seasons of drum corps with the World Class Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps on Mellophone.

Outside of teaching, Mr. Hayes enjoys working as a drill writer and show designer, hiking, reading, attending musicals, and spending time with his partner and two dogs.
