January 18, 2023
Dear Parents, Students, and Families,
January 20th completes our first semester. The year is going by quickly; June will be here before we know it. There has been a lot of success at COT this year, and we look forward to that continuing as we move into the second half of the year.
We are beginning our application process for students interested in joining us for the 2023-2024 school year. Our programming prepares students for high-skill and high-demand careers. We offer classes in several career clusters: Business Management and Administration, Health Sciences, Marketing and Sales, Technology, Education and Training, Auto Sector, Engineering and Architecture, STEM, Public Safety, Building Trades, and Manufacturing. We are adding two new programs for the 23-24 school year: Athletic Training/Sports Medicine and Travel, Tourism, and Hospitality.
All of these clusters offer a range of career options and career pathways. Our classes provide core academic skills, technical and job-specific skills, and employability skills. Once called "vocational education," we also now encompass high-tech in-demand skills such as robotics, informational technology, and mobile app development. Even in traditional programs such as automotive repair or electrical technology, students are learning new technical, interpersonal, and entrepreneurial skills. Our electrical students are learning how to wire "smart houses." Our industries change rapidly, and we remain agile to teach students with the most up-to-date information and equipment.
Did you know that 75% of our students go on to college while the remainder joins the military or pursue paid apprenticeships or employment in the field of their choice? While students are with us, they can earn industry credentials which include industry certificates, hours towards a Maine Journeyman licensure, and other Maine State licensures where applicable. Additionally, students can earn college credits while attending COT which saves money for future college expenses. These are only a few of the immediate benefits for students that participate in our classes. If you have a child or know of someone who may be interested in learning by doing, they can apply now by clicking here or below.
Best regards,
Paulette Bonneau
Director
