Principal's Message
Good afternoon Canby High School Students and Families!
One of the fun experiences in high school is getting out in the community. It has been great to have field trips back in full swing this year. Among others, our agriculture classes visited Swan Island Dahlias, MEChA went to Teatro Milagro, Yearbook attended the state journalism conference at the University of Oregon, and our Adulting class recently visited US Bank. Our Construction 3 class works at the job site daily, on our house that we are building near Baker Prairie.
Canby HS Leadership attended the Oregon Association of Student Councils Fall Leadership Conference in Seaside. CHS Leadership attended this conference to hear motivational speakers, interact with other schools and students, and share all the great things that are happening at CHS. CHS Leadership, as a group, also gave a presentation on weekly CTV segments and shared information to the school. At the Conference, OASC member schools had the opportunity to vote for the Executive Council for the next year. Junior Gracelyn Chaffee was elected President of the Executive Council, and Junior Patricia Campbell was elected Metro-East Regional Representative. Congrats Gracie and Pat!
The fall play wraps up this weekend with shows tonight, tomorrow (Friday), and Saturday. Check out the show and some of our amazing thespians on the stage. There is more information below. And congratulations to the boys cross country team, who placed 8th at the State Meet and will be representing CHS at the Pacific Northwest Regionals this weekend. Also, we have one student athlete who signed for fall. Avery Keinonen signed yesterday to swim for University of Idaho! Congratulations, Avery! Speaking of athletics, it was awesome to see the turnout for our Fall Sports Awards Night last night. Great job Fall Athletes! The winter sports season starts next week, and the Parent Information Night is next Thursday, 11/19.
We are getting close to final exams, which are three weeks away, and the week of Thanksgiving is a two day week. Students should be asking their teachers about the content and format of their final exams, which are Wednesday, 11/30 and Thursday, 12/1. It is a good time to start studying now.
Finally, we have no school tomorrow in remembrance of Veteran’s Day. Thank you to all who have served our country.
Best,
Cari Sloan

Schedules:
We have all of our athletics schedule all in one place on our master athletic schedule. This includes game times, locations, and bus departure times. It is updated real-time by your athletic department. Go to this link to see the current schedule, which is subject to change with little notice.
Fall Play--The Servant of Two Masters:
The play opens with a troupe of actors onstage bemoaning the bad economic times and the effect they’re having on the troupe's theatre. The company, preparing to perform Goldoni's The Servant of Two Masters, is reduced to borrowing and recycling props and costumes from other plays. Based on the classical Italian comedy style of commedia dell'arte, the play’s plot revolves around the absurdly complicated circumstances keeping two pairs of lovers apart, and the role of the servant Truffaldino in bringing everything to a happy conclusion as he attempts to sate his hunger for both food and meaning in life. Will Truffaldino and the rest of the theatre troupe be able to pull off the under-rehearsed show AND save the theatre? Find out at CHS's The Servant of Two Masters!

Attendance at CHS
To ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our attendance process, please remember the following guidelines:
If your student needs to leave class for an appointment or because they are sick, inform the attendance office 30 MINUTES PRIOR to leave time. This will help us ensure that your student receives a note to leave class in a timely manner. Students will not be excused without a note.
Pre-Excused Absence: For any anticipated absence that will be more than three days, students are expected to pick up a Pre-Excused Absence Form from Jessie Munoz at the Attendance Office.
To report an absence, call Jessie Munoz at our attendance line at 503-263-7210 or email chs-attendance@canby.k12.or.us.
Students have 48 hours to have unexcused absences excused. Students may lose the opportunity to make up work for credit due to unexcused absences. Please report an absence as soon as possible.
Remember that attendance matters and students who attend class regularly are more likely to stay on track, graduate on time, learn deeply, and get the most from their high school experience.
