THE 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR WILL LAUNCH OUR TRANSITION AT SCHURZ ELEMENTARY TO A COMPLETELY DESIGNATED DUAL LANGUAGE SCHOOL! BOTH OF OUR KINDERGARTEN CLASSROOMS, AS WELL AS OUR FULL DAY 4K CLASSROOM, WILL BE DUAL LANGUAGE. We are looking forward to the great opportunity to teach our 4K/Kindergarten students in both English AND Spanish!

Watch for 4K (Watertown 4 Kids) and Kindergarten dual enrollment opportunities for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year at Schurz Elementary!

Again, in 2022-2023, this plan will ONLY be for students in grades 4K and K. Students in grades 1-5 will continue with their current schooling pathway.

One handicap parking spot out front of Schurz doesn't seem to be quite fit the needs of the students in our RISE program. Because of this, we will be adding TWO MORE handicap parking spots south of where the current handicap parking spot is located. We are excited to provide more space for our RISE families, and other families, to park when needing handicap access.

Riverside Middle School will offer two opportunities for parents of current 5th grade students. RMS administrators and staff will present information about classes and activities for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year on:

Tuesday, January, 18th at 6:00pm

Thursday, January, 20th at 8:30am

Please join them on the date that works best for you!

RMS Counselors will be presenting middle school course registration to our 5th grade students at Schurz Elementary during the morning on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.

Drop off time: 7:45-7:55am

(There is no outside supervision prior to 7:45am) Please do not drop off your child prior to this time, especially with the cold mornings, as they will be outside.

Pick up time: 3:00 (M, T, Th, F), 2:00 (W)

There is no supervision 15 minutes after dismissal, so be sure to have your child picked up prior to 3:15 (M, T, Th, F) and 2:15 (W).

*We always strive to ensure students safety is a number one priority at Schurz. We are noticing that some students are not safely crossing the street when transitioning to and from their vehicles during drop off/dismissal. Parents/guardians, please park your vehicles and walk your child(ren) across the street during these times.

PLEASE SLOW DOWN AND BE MINDFUL OF DRIVING THROUGH THE SCHOOL ZONE FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL!

Winter is here! Please be sure your child has a warm coat, snow pants, scarf, mittens/gloves, and boots until further notice. Students will be going outside as long as the wind chill is above 0 degrees. All items should be labeled.

Additionally, all students should have an extra set of clothing in their locker. Not only do bathroom accidents happen, but milk spills, falls in puddles, leaky snow pants, and such lead to uncomfortable wet clothing.

Please make sure our school office has your updated information anytime a change occurs. Information is sent home via emails, texts, students, and postage. We want to be sure all of our families are up to date on happenings with Schurz Elementary School and within the Watertown Unified School District. Changes can be made by parents/guardians themselves on Skyward or by calling the Schurz office at 920-262-1485 for assistance.

Watertown Unified School District offers free COVID-19 PCR testing for WUSD students and staff.

Non-Holiday General Hours are Monday - Friday 9:00am - 1:00pm and 1:30pm - 3:00pm.

Second and third grade parents, please remember to send in your student's pink Seal-A-Smile form. The Watertown Department of Public Health does require a form filled out for every 2nd & 3rd grade student indicating whether or not you are interested in this service.
