• Middle School spirit wear - Starting this week any middle school student who attends a middle school event, and is wearing Morenci clothing, will get into the event for free. Spirit wear will be available for them at lunch and each event for $10.00 (wholesale cost).
• Science teacher - Mrs. Collins' tenure with Morenci Area Schools, we close at the end of the week. We are in the process of hiring a science teacher. I will talk with the students this week about the transition. There will be a few minor changes to a few student schedules. We are fortunate to have a potential solution with such a teacher shortage.
• Parking Lot - It is quite disappointing that we rescheduled the senior parking lot painting. The evening forecast called for a 90% chance of rain overnight. One bit of good news is the adjustment to payment procedures. Students/families will now make payments via Venmo. This adjustment will allow students to make payments over time. The deadline for complete payment is now FEBRUARY 1st! I emailed the Venmo QR code to all seniors.
• SchoolStore.com MS fundraiser - The MS annual fundraiser begins this week. Profits will go directly back to our school. Any participation is appreciated.
• Fall Conferences, Report Cards, and NWEA/MSTEP Parent Reports - Families can pick up fall report cards during the October 20th Fall Parent Teacher Conferences. The fall report card will include a Spring 2022 MSTEP parent report and a fall NWEA parent report. Please stop by the office before your conference to pick up these essential documents.

Thanks to a generous donation to Morenci Middle School, we plan a field trip to a Toledo Walleye’s Education Event on November 9, 2022. This annual program provides a unique experience for students to use hockey as a backdrop for math, science, geography, and history concepts, followed by the chance to watch a professional hockey game. We hope that ALL of our 6th through 8th-grade students will earn the opportunity to attend this exciting event.

M-156 north of Ridgeville Road will be closed for railway maintenance from 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 9/20 until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, 9/24.

The PTO kicked off the week with a wonderful coffee cart for the staff.

Attached you will find a wealth of information regarding various community support services. The resource guide covers all of Lenawee County. The document comes from the Lenawee Community Foundation.

Our first monthly Dog Dinner will be Thursday, September 29th, from 6:00 - 7:00 pm @ the Pizza Box. RSVP is no longer required. The school's Title One services will be presented at this meal. Title One is a federally funded grant offering various supports for our students. This will allow us to inform the community of those supports. Pepperoni and cheese pizza will be available free of charge. Additionally, we will highlight successes and discuss challenges.
