Phoenix Perspectives
As we welcome the beginning of a new semester, we are excited to share some insights and tips to ensure a smooth takeoff into the next chapter for Semester 2. This semester promises to be as much fun and engaging both academically and social emotionally as Semester 1! We are very excited to pilot our new Level System. Student Council has been instrumental in helping us get this off the ground. Having student input is so important and we are very lucky to have such great student leadership at Central!
As our mascot, the phoenix symbolizes renewal, growth, and resilience. This semester, let's all embrace the Phoenix Spirit and approach our studies with a renewed sense of enthusiasm and commitment!
Have a great weekend!

New Level System
The Level System utilized at Central School is a framework to help students manage their own behavior. The four main goals of this system are
Increasing appropriate behavior
Promoting academic success
Fostering student's improvement through self-management
Developing personal responsibility for social, emotional, and academic performance
Students must maintain certain levels with their grades, attendance, behavior points, and referrals. Every two weeks we will evaluate where students are at with individual meetings to help them set goals and see if they meet the criteria for leveling up to the next level. At each level there are different incentives built in.
Student Council will be helping us evaluate this system often and offering tweaks and suggestions to make it the best process for students.
S.H.I.N.E Slips
This semester we have a renewed focus on recognizing students who are doing fantastic work in classes, students who go out of their way to help others, or those who show tremendous character! This week we have four students to recognize: Joel Stewart, Jimmy King, Jason Devosha, and Austin Jerpe! Congratulations and keep up the great work!
New Field Trip Electives Coming Up!
We have two field trips planned for high school students and one planned for middle school and elementary. Our first is taking our high school students to the Nelson-Atkins Art Gallery at the Plaza. This will be a great experience for students and will be focused on History, English, and Science! You can check out more about the Nelson-Atkins Art Gallery here: https://nelson-atkins.org/exhibitions/drip-splatter-wash-exploration-watercolor-technique/
Our second field trip will be in February. We are taking students to the Coterie Theatre at Crown Center to watch the play, Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief! Our students and staff are really excited about this trip and have multiple elective offerings in the afternoon to get ready for this great experience.
