FULL SCALE EVACUATION DRILL THIS WEEK! (Slight change)
Greetings MVLA Families!
This Thursday, October 20th, we will be hosting a full scale evacuation drill. What this means is that at approximately 12:30pm on that day all students and staff will be walking to St. Genevieve's Parish Hall. From there we will be picked up by school busses and transported down to the Dr. Karen M. Trujillo Administration Complex at 505 South Main Street. There we will congregate in the Boardroom and get students organized for pick up.
Students will have to be picked up from that location between 2 and 2:30. Anyone picking up students will need their photo id and must be on the emergency (release to) contact list, in our system. Please make sure to contact the school prior to the 20th if you plan to have someone pick up your student that is not already approved.
We will be updating you with more information as we get closer to that date. If you have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to contact me at amartos@lcps.net or call the school at 575-527-6059.

Attendance Survey
The State asks that we track why students miss. If you have a minute, please take this very short survey to help us get an idea of why kiddos are sometimes out. We have only had about 30 responses. If you have not had a chance to fill this out, please do. I promise it's not long and I fixed the glitches....I believe.
Enriched Learning, Guest Presenters and Getting to know you Survey
This month's theme for Enriched Learning Theme is Civic Engagement. This is an opportunity to teach our students what it means to be a responsible citizen. If you know someone or
would yourself like to come be a presenter at the school to discuss civic engagement,
please let Mrs. Martos know.
I know that sometimes we would like to help, but just don't know how. Please fill out this quick form to let us know what you do and how you might want to be involved in our MVLA community:
PTO and SAC
Thank you for another fabulous PTO meeting! We will meet again October 27th at 6pm in person and on zoom.
Two important notes. The District is looking for volunteers to serve on the Budget Survey Committee and the 23-24 School Calendar Committee. If you are interested please go to this link https://www.lcps.net/article/833572
Below is the schedule for the District Advisory Council Meetings.
Cell Phone Policies (Please continue to remind your student.)
If your child does not feel well, please tell them they need to come see the nurse and she will contact you if they need to be picked up. Students should not be calling or texting parents during the day unless it is from the office with an adult present.
Cell phones can be a huge distraction at school and we need your help to address this very real problem.
