Mountain View Weekly Update
December 3
Announcements & Updates
- This NFL season, Mountain View is recognizing students who demonstrate upstander qualities, such as respect and leadership. The "Upstander of the Month" receives a t-shirt and 2 tickets to a NY Jets home game. The December upstander is 8th grader Andrew Epitropakis. Congrats!
- When dropping off lunches and other items for your child, please be sure to be sure the item is clearly labeled with their name and ring the intercom to inform the Main office before leaving it on the cart. Unless it is urgent, the item will be left on the front table to avoid interrupting class. Students are expected to check the table if they are awaiting an item, and if it is not there, they should inquire with the Main office.
- A reminder that the Lions' Den will be open to students after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 - 4:30. Please see the November 19 Weekly Update for a flyer containing additional details. The sign-up form is located on Mrs. Toth's Google Classroom, but "walk-ins" are also welcome.
- Update from Pomptonian: Students will now be able to pay cash OR charge additional items to their PayForIt account. At the end of each month, parents will be informed if their child is carrying a balance of $10.00 or more. Student charges cannot exceed $25.00.
A note from Ms. Walsh
Happy Friday and happy December Mountain View! Over the past week and a half, students have been contributing to a bulletin board in the hallway across from the Lions’ Den. The theme of the bulletin board is “Take what you need; Give what you can.” The idea behind the theme is that students will be able to grab a sticky note with something they need while walking to and from classes. What they need can be a smile, words of encouragement, or a positive reminder. The “Give what you can'' portion of the bulletin board allows for students to offer their own words of encouragement, positive affirmations, and reminders for other students in the school. I have been thoroughly impressed with what the students at Mountain View have contributed to the board, and the positivity and encouragement they are passing along to their peers. Check out the bulletin board and some of the encouraging messages from students! Enjoy your weekend.
