Flipping Tip #2: Changing the Culture in the Classroom

#EMSTechspert, Scott Boiles, shares FLIPPING TIP #2 this week.


When you are beginning the flipped classroom experience, you are likely going to receive some pushback from your students. Many students have been doing the “school thing” for a while and they have a mental model of how a classroom should work that is quite ingrained. You as the teacher, need to be clear and enthusiastic about the flipped model. Prepare to be the marketer of your instruction. The mentality of “You must learn this because I said so” and “You must do it this way—ONLY”, needs to disappear. Why should it matter what tool they use as long as they can show proficiency in your content. Students use technology every day for research, presentations and homework through a blended learning environment which combines the physical classroom work with an online learning space. You will need to establish your expectations with the students so they know what to expect from a new classroom experience.

How do I pin something to the taskbar?

To pin a program to the taskbar. Do one of the following: If the program is already running, right-click the program's button on the taskbar (or drag the button toward the desktop) to open the program's Jump List, and then click Pin this program to taskbar.
