Sally Ride was born on May 26, 1951. She was born in California. Her dad was a professor in a college and her mon was a counselor. SHe helped people with their feelings and worries. When Sally went to school, she noticed that she loved science and math. Her favorite sport was tennis and she was really good at it! Sally thought she would be a professional tennis player but she then decided to go to Stanford University to learn physics. Physics is a kind of science. In 1977, Sally went to Johnson Space Center in Texas. In 1979, Sally became an astronaut. On June 18, 1983, Dr. Sally Ride made history as the first American woman in space.
