Community Connection

The holiday season is a great time to start new reading traditions. Beyond bedtime stories, consider a special birthday book, holiday favorites, or a regular family read aloud night. Reading opens up kids’ worlds. It introduces them to new things and new places. Literacy involves reading and writing. Writing can even be incorporated into these traditions by making cards and writing special messages to friends and family members. It is helpful to have pencils, crayons, markers, and paper. Encourage your child to write. One way to do this is to write notes or short letters to her. It is fun, entertaining, and beneficial to write back and forth to one another.

• Tuesday, November 21, November Birthday Lunch, Personal invitations will be sent home for those students having a birthday in the month of November.
• Wednesday, November 22-Friday, November 24, No School, Thanksgiving Holiday
• Monday, November 27, No School, Staff Professional Development Day

Our campaign was a success! We surpassed our goal of $500, with our students raising a total of $832.50! We'll be having a dance party later in the month to celebrate! Mrs. Greenwald's class was the top earning class and they've earned a pizza party! Thank you all for your donations for this worthy cause.

Veterans Elementary will be having a can food drive starting 11/6 to 11/10. We will be collecting canned good and other items for the Douglass Community Center. The items needed are as follows: canned goods, toothpaste, toothbrushes, detergent and all dry food goods. Thank you in advance for your giving!

Our focus trait for the month of November is Gratitude. Please continue to talk to your students about the character traits covered in school. The traits are; Courage, Kindness, Perseverance, Responsibility, Honesty, Cooperation, Respect, Creativity, Gratitude and Empathy. Please talk to your students of the importance of demonstrating these qualities in their lives and the interactions they have with others.

Infinite Campus is our new parent/student information portal. This is where you'll be able to view grades, lunch balances, etc. You should have received an email from communications@hannibal60.com to update your contact information.
