Nipmuc Parent-Teacher Conferences Begin Tomorrow
We know our teachers are looking forward to connecting with parents and guardians beginning tomorrow for parent-teacher conferences. This year our conferences will be virtually beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, December 8 from 6-8pm and Wednesday, December 9 from 12-2:30pm.
Teachers sent out individual sign-up documents via email. Zoom links were also on the sign-up documents for each teacher. If you are struggling to locate the Zoom link or would like to sign up for a conference time, please reach out to the teacher(s) directly.
Additionally, your child’s school counselor will be available during conference times. You can sign up by clicking on the names below.
Nipmuc's new school resource officer, Isaiah Poxon, will also be available on Wednesday, December 9 from 12-1pm. Feel free to "drop-in" and say hello to Officer Poxon by clicking on this link.
The schedule for our two days of conferences is shared below.
Study Halls with School Counselors
Are you looking for some structure on your asynchronous days? Do you have questions about organizing and prioritizing your work? School counselors are hosting study halls each day that any student can join on their asynchronous days. You can use study halls to ask questions and get help with organization or just to have a time and place to keep yourself accountable and get some work done. Feel free to attend study hall on any of your asynchronous days, even if it’s not with your own counselor.
Mondays 11am-12pm with Ms. Fagan
Tuesdays 11-12 with Ms. Swenson
Thursdays 11am-12pm with Mrs. Towne
Fridays 11am-12pm with Mrs. Hefez
Change of Instructional Model for Your Child
As you saw in the superintendent's email on November 20, 2020, if you would like to change the instructional model for your child (hybrid model to stand-alone remote or vice-versa), please contact your child’s school counselor. The deadline for this notification was Friday, December 4. If you have not yet contacted your child's school counselors please do so by Wednesday, December 9 at the latest. This information is critical as we work to construct student schedules for the second semester at Nipmuc.
Music Department
Tired of cooking after Thanksgiving? The Music Boosters wants to let you know about an easy way to give yourself a break and support a great organization this Wednesday on December 9th. Galliford's at Southwick Zoo in Mendon will be sponsoring the Music Boosters from 4:00pm-8:00pm donating 15% of all proceeds from dining and takeout service. Thank you for your continued support this school year!
Boxed Meal Program
The boxed meal program is a weekly program including items for 5 days of breakfast and lunch and consist of frozen, fresh and dry food items. Pick up time is Wednesday 11:30-12:30pm at the front entrance of the school building.
So that we may appropriately plan how many boxed meals we need, please return this survey by tomorrow Tuesday, December 8. PICK UP IS WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 9.
If you have any questions, please email Food Services Director Dianne Mucci at dmucci@mursd.org.
A Message from the Nipmuc School Nurse
Per the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, influenza immunization will be required for all children 6 months of age or older who are attending Massachusetts child care, pre-school, kindergarten, K-12, and colleges and universities. The new vaccine requirement is an important step to reduce flu-related illness and the overall impact of respiratory illness during the COVID-19 pandemic.
All MURSD students will be expected to have received a flu vaccine by December 31, 2020 for the 2020-2021 influenza season, unless either a medical or religious exemption is provided. Also exempted are K-12 students who are homeschooled and higher education students who are completely off-campus and engaged in remote learning only. This new flu immunization requirement to enter school in January is in addition to existing vaccine requirements for all those attending child care, preschool, K-12, and colleges and universities in Massachusetts. Elementary and secondary students in districts and schools that are using a remote education model are not exempt.
Please forward documentation of your child’s flu vaccine to the school nurse prior to December 31, 2020.
Please click here for more information on the flu vaccine requirement.
