Welcome Back Wildcats!
Back to School Information
Principal's Message
I hope you've all rested and enjoyed the beautiful weather this summer. As we near the end of August, we’d like to welcome you to the 2023-24 school year at Fred L. Williams Elementary School. We have been busy making preparations in order to set up our students for a successful new school year. Our Wildcats will be receiving engaging and high-quality instruction with an updated math curriculum, one-on-one student electronic devices, enrichment and acceleration opportunities as well as as an expanded music program. School safety will continue being a high priority. Please join me in welcoming Officer Abel Alaniz who will be joining us as our District's new School Resource Officer.
Our Williams School office is open and ready to assist the community with school and registration questions and will continue offering counter help from 7:30-4:00 PM. Please remember that students will return to school earlier this year on TUESDAY, 08/22/23. In addition, our Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten students will be attending school full-time beginning on the first day of school this year. Schedules by grade level will be as follows:
Grades TK-K: 8:00-2:00 PM (NEW HOURS)
Grades 1-3: 8:00-2:20 PM
Grades 4-5: 8:00-2:35 PM
You will have one more day to pickup first day of school packets, teacher assignments and classroom numbers on Monday, 08/21/23 from 10:00-2:00 PM. We ask parents to please fill out the first day of school packets and return the completed paperwork to your child's teacher on the first day of school.
I appreciate the support of our wonderful school team and am proud to work alongside our amazing Williams team. Please be advised that our school counselor, Laura Hernandez, and our Healthy Start social worker, Kenya Dominguez, will be returning to support students and families. We look forward to working with our community and are excited to start the year. I look forward to aligning our school assemblies and behavior expectations to our new school motto: - Our Wildcats are respectful, kind and responsible. Let's continue looking out for each other to help us stay safe and healthy.
We appreciate your patience, support and cooperation as we work together this year. Please remember to stay in touch and reach out to team members and me this year. If you have questions or concerns, you may contact our wonderful office team at (805) 488-3541 but you may also maintain contact with teachers, the school principal, school counselor and social worker through our Parent Square app as well. See you all soon!

OUR FIRST EARLY DISMISSAL WEDNESDAY
IS THE SECOND DAY OF SCHOOL - 08/23/23!
- Grades TK-3: 8:00-12:35 PM
- Grades 4-5: 8:00-12:45 PM
Be on time!
Parents will be able to walk onto the playground (via the playground/roundabout gate) to take first day of school photos with their child(ren) or help their children find their room number on the playground blacktop. Once the 8:00 am bell rings, students will walk in with their teachers and parents will be asked to exit the playground, so that we may lock the gate and secure our school. Thank you for your help and cooperation!
2 Points of Entry to School
Please be advised that students will enter school via two points of entry.
- FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL ONLY: Parents may enter through the back Playground/Roundabout Gate on the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. You may take photos and help your child find their room number, so they may line up and wait for their teacher.
- Front Office Entrance - Please use the main entrance near the front office if your student is in rooms K1, K2 or K3, and also, if your student will be heading to the cafeteria to eat breakfast.
- Blue Door Entrance - Please have students use the blue doors near the electronic marquee sign to enter the school in the morning. This is also where most students will exit in the afternoon.
Breakfast in the Cafeteria
Students are invited to eat breakfast in the cafeteria from 7:30-7:55 am EVERY morning. Please direct your students to use the front school entrance to access the cafeteria for breakfast. Breakfast and lunch are provided FREE of charge for all Williams students.

Respect: Show respect to everyone • Use good manners and language • Be considerate of feelings • Never bully, hit or hurt others
SHINE After-School Programs
If you enrolled your child in the SHINE after-school program and received confirmation from the SHINE office, your child will begin staying after school on the first day of school. If you haven't enrolled your child yet, you are still in time! Please stop by and pick up an application from our front office and we will place it in the SHINE mailbox for processing. The SHINE office will contact parents to inform you when your child may begin staying after school.
Also, please join us in welcoming our new SHINE After-school Site Coordinator, Ms. Melanie Hottendorf (Ms. H).
We need you!
