Strictly Strings Performance Inspires Student Talent
This year, the concert took place on February 13th in the Los Altos High School auditorium, bringing together ensembles of stringed instrumental performances. The concert is intended to spark inspiration among younger musicians who can experience the skills that develop with years of experience playing their stringed instrument by performing with local high school students.
The Los Altos School District offers an engaging elementary vocal and instrumental music program to all 4th through 6th grade students. This unique music program inspires an appreciation for music, while increasing student knowledge and developing skills. In junior high school, students continue to build their skills by continuing to play an instrument or further exploring their vocal talents through their elective choices.

Elementary School STEM Expos
Every year students in all grade levels in our elementary schools have the opportunity to participate in the STEM Expo. While engaging in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) projects, students have an opportunity to design hands-on projects while exploring just how fun STEM can be!
STEM Expos begin today at Loyola Elementary School, and will take place through March.
These events lend themselves to a variety of learning experiences either within the class or at home, working individually or collaboratively with their peers or with adults amongst a wide range of STEM categories. Ultimately, students get the chance to showcase their science work in a fun and unique venue, with learning opportunities for the entire family.
This year, STEM Expo categories are: Rube Goldberg, Invention, Reverse Engineering, Robotics, Scientific Inquiry and Wearable Designs. To find out more information about the STEM Fair at your elementary school, click here.
Funding Music and STEM Programs in LASD
Our elementary school music and STEM programs are the beneficiaries of generous community donations to the Los Altos Educational Foundation. We appreciate your donations to continue to provide these robust educational experiences for all students. Learn more about how LAEF supports our schools at https://laefonline.org.
