First Day Tips!
If you have REGISTERED to RIDE A BUS, information will be coming directly from Transportation Services. To register for bus service, complete your RETURNING STUDENT registration!.
Car Riders, Walkers, Golf Cart Riders, and Bike Riders - Please review our traffic map and reminders to be sure you are SAFE getting to and from school.
Students will report to HOMEROOM the first day of school.
Student Lists by grade level with HOMEROOM information will be posted by the Bus Entry and in the "Commons" by the Main Entry.
Parents may walk students to class on the first day of school.
All students will receive a fresh copy of their schedule during Homeroom the first day to ensure they have the most accurate, up to date information to follow.
Lunch and Breakfast will be served daily. Lunch account information is available on the District's website. Students will be directed through the breakfast and lunch process by teachers. Families are encouraged to apply for Free/Reduced meals - The application link is available on the district's website.
Chromebooks will be distributed beginning on August 20th. Students with outstanding fees for Chromebooks last year will not be issued a device.
Dismissal - It is critical that your child knows how they will get home every day, but especially on day one! We work to verify that every child (ALL1500!) know how they are getting home on day one - it is a monster task! Making sure your child is clear on their bus number, who will pick them up, or how they are to get home is a big help. We appreciate your support! (You can text your child information during the day - they are able to check phones during Homeroom, when they are eating lunch and at dismissal every day!)

Focus Areas for 2023-2024
Instruction - Achievement - Focused Learning Time
The three areas we are focusing on this year are Instructional Alignment, Student Achievement, and Focused Learning Time. The graphics below provide a broad overview and the attachment provides greater detail on the specifics.
While the Instructional Alignment focus will be more visible to our teachers as they continue to work in Professional Learning Communities suing our new District-developed Instructional Framework and Instructional Hub of resources, parents and families will see the Student Achievement and Focused Learning Time elements front and center.
Our action plans for these two areas address our plans for instruction and support in the areas of cell phone and dress code management (focused learning time) and work completion/habit development (student achievement). The attachment, "2023-2024 Cane Bay Middle Focus Areas", shares specifics in each area that will be operationalized with our staff, students, and families this year. Although our Student Handbook and District Student Handbook will continue to be linked to our weekly newsletters for ready reference, we will be providing hard copies of the Focus Area document to all families in the first days of school. We hope you find this in-hand resource valuable to your family as we support your students this school year!
