Harford County Infants & Toddlers

Infants & Toddlers is a year round program, but there are some changes during the summer months. Starting Monday, June 20th, office hours will be open Monday-Thursday, 7 AM - 5 PM. Our office will be closed on Fridays. Normal office hours will resume on Thursday, August 18th.

If you have any questions about your summer appointments, please reach out to your Infants & Toddlers provider or call the office at 410-638-3823.

Playgrounds and Parks

• Rockfield Park Creative Playground, Bel Air - also home to the Chesapeake Sensory Plaza, which is a 5,000-square-foot interactive water playground with a series of wading pools
• Annie’s Playground, Fallston - look for the new 2-5 year old play area to open soon!!
• Lyn Stacie Getz Creative Playground, Bel Air
• Shucks Road Park, Bel Air – sensory trail with 10 interactive features to see, touch & hear
• Tydings Park, Havre de Grace – an all access playground… then walk the Promenade!
• Bear Legacy Adventure Trail, Bel Air - series of hiking trails that include a number of movement stations. The mostly flat terrain features a fairy garden, swing bridge, and climbing wall.

Kickoff Summer Reading on June 21st at the Abingdon and Aberdeen branches. Then, in addition to their regular Storytimes, checkout the calendar of special guest presenters, like the Aquarium, Chesapeake Therapeutic Riding, Talewise and Mr. Jon. All programs are FREE. LISS stands for Low Intensity Support Services and supports people with disabilities. Fund by the State of Maryland, it grants recipients up to $2,000 for to improve quality of life and encourage participation in their communities. Recipients are identified through a random selection process and not based on income.

Funds can be used on respite and child care, adaptive equipment, assistive technology, therapeutic and community activities, and so much more.

Partners for Success is part of Harford County Public Schools and provides information about community services, assists families in resolving concerns, and helps to increase parental involvement in the special education decision making process. We recommend connecting with Partners for Success when your child transitions to school, but in the meantime, there is some great information in the newsletter for all families.

Partners for Success has published a special Summer Camps Edition. Most of the activities are for older, school-aged children. However, there are several opportunities for children starting at age 3. Click here to access the newsletter.

The Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities (MCDD) Community and Professional Development Training program at Kennedy Krieger Institute is hosting a Summer Learning Series from June through early August. The series consists of one-hour and three-hour workshops with interdisciplinary topics focused on working with individuals with intellectual, developmental, and other disabilities and their families. MCDD's Summer Learning Series program helps a range of professionals and community members expand their knowledge and skills to engage in effective advocacy.

All workshops are virtual via Zoom.

LOCATE is a free service to help you find child care. You can search their site, or speak with a referral specialist by calling 877-261-0060 during business hours. They can help you identify child care options in your area based on your family's specific needs.

2-1-1 Maryland is a resource that brings together four agencies to provide simple access to health and human services information. What can they help with? Affordable housing, food, employment training, utility payment assistance, services for their children or aging parents, and many other issues. The 2-1-1 database has information on nearly 5,000 agencies and programs across the state of Maryland.

Help is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Just call 2-1-1.

Harford County Infants & Toddlers provides early intervention services and supports to eligible children with developmental delays and their families. Services are provided at not cost to families. Infants & Toddlers is a part of Harford County Public Schools.
