Message from Mrs. Garcia
Welcome to the October Rocker Reminders Parent Edition!
~We are so excited about Parent Teacher Conferences. If you have not signed up for a conference, just call us or sign up HERE. We can help you with it! Our biggest goal is just to make sure we meet with you. There are parent sign-in sheets for each teacher. Please make sure to sign in for the teacher. We use these for data on how to improve our attendance.
~We have worked really hard on making sure our conferences are equitable. We will cover all important information in every grade level with every student.
Such as:
-Student Fall Assessments
-Attendance
-Improvements in our behavior system
-Students progress
-Area of improvement
~I also want to let you know that we are struggling with our grade cards. We know that we need to improve them. Ultimately, we have run out of time to make the improvements. We hope to have them done for the 2nd nine week's grades. We are sorry. It's just not we were able to finish. You will still get a grade card and we completed them the best the teacher could do. Just know we are working on it.
~We will have several community resources set up in our gym for parents to visit. Our counselor, Kara Lazarus, has worked really hard to have resources available to parents for a one-stop shop.
Tuesday and Wednesday ONLY

Phone calls are great too, but please make them from 7:30 AM-8:00 AM or 3:35 PM-4:00 PM. The rest of my day is busy with students and staff. I can always set up a time to sit down and visit with you too.
Thanks,
Mrs. Garcia

Attendance
Attendance is one of our building's focus this year. We are taking a lot of extra time and being intentional about our Attendance protocol. If you receive an attendance letter in the mail from us, just know that we have identified that the student has met the threshold hold for student attendance. That threshold for the 9 weeks is the total number of days missed divided by the total amount of student days. We attended school 42 days for the 1st 9 weeks.
For example: If Mrs. Garcia misses 5 days of school (unexcused or excused) I am now at 12% of missed school days. I am then flagged for attendance. That means we make an intentional effort to make the teacher, parent, and Admin aware of the attendance. This will help everyone be aware and monitor. Every attendance situation is different and depends on the situation. Our main concern is that students reduce missed days and increase communication with the school.
Our attendance protocol is reflective of the DCF process. All students 12 years old and younger will eventually be referred to DCF. If a student is older than 13 years old they are referred to the County Attorney.
Again, our goal is to reduce missed days, educate our community, and bring awareness to all involved with that student. This is a team effort and we all want what's best for all our students.
If you have any questions, always feel free to call us and ask:)
I have attached a flyer below as a helpful resource. We will also be discussing attendance at parent teacher conferences.
