Walker Career Center weekly update - April 16, 2021

Nursing and Dental students are CPR certified!

Students in our Nursing and Dental programs were able to gain adult and infant CPR Certification in class this week!

Clinicals are back!

Students in Health Science II were finally able to return to on site clinicals this week as they work to complete their required hours for state certification! Special thanks to Rosegate and Miller's Merry Manor for allowing our student's to complete their clincials.

Architecture and Construction Prepare for School Board Update

A select group of seniors in our Construction Trades and Architecture program have been working with Skillman to provide the school board updates later this month. This week, they were able to go over to Lowell Elementary to see the construction updates in person. Thank you to Skillman for providing our students with such a wonderful opportunity!

Mock Interviews

Students in our ETE programs were able to participate in Mock Interviews this week with WCC administrators. Prior to the interviews, students were able to receive complimentary haircuts from our ladies in Cosmetology and participated in a resume workshop with Mrs. Strother. Special shout out to Mrs. Criswell for organizing this wonderful experience!

TIE DYE WEEK!!!

Nothing better than breaking out the rubber bands and a little dye to see what type of design you can come up with..... Last week the students in Fashion and Textiles made pillow cases and this week they were able to add a little excitement to them by tie dying them.

Ramen Time

Students in Intro to Culinary rose to the challenge this week as they were able to make some tasty Ramen dishes.

IMPD visits Criminal Justice

The Criminal Justice program had special visitors this week from IMPD. Thank you to Officer Desiree Biggers of the Cadet Unit and Officer Alyssa Hunter of the Violence Reduction Unit/ North District for talking with our students.
