Coffee Bar Now Open!

The Burbank Bulldog Brews Coffee Bar is back and open for business. Students may purchase beverages before school only. Teachers can purchase before school and during the day (while the supply lasts).

Letters About Literature Contest Letters About Literature Contest

All 4th-12th graders are invited to participate in Letters About Literature Texas! Read a book or poem and write a letter. This year’s contest will open on November 4, 2019. Submissions for 2019-2020 LAL Texas are due to the online submission platform by December 17, 2019. Be sure to read the submission steps (coming soon) and official rules set by the Texas Center for the Book at the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. A permission form is required for all student participants who will be younger than 13 years of age on November 4, 2019.

Teacher Websites

All teachers will be required to set up their teacher webpage through EZ Task Titanium by the end of the 7th week of school (Sept. 27). An instruction page is available if you want to get started and training will be provided this month. Teachers must use this district page at least as a landing page that has the following information: Your schedule (including tutoring times), class syllabi, instructional calendar for the 9 weeks, and contact information. See Mrs. De Waelsche if you have any questions.

Digital Citizenship Requirements Digital Citizenship Requirements

Digital Citizenship for Professional Staff

All teachers and other professional staff members are required to complete the online digital citizenship course through Google Classroom. The class code is jk8y4zk. Teachers & staff must complete this no later than November 8. Teachers will need to turn in proof of completion in the form of a copy of your transcript from Performance Matters to Mrs. De Waelsche by this date.

Digital Citizenship for Students

Per federal requirements, all districts that receive federal funding, including eRate funding, must certify that their students have received training in Cyber Safety and Digital Citizenship. The following classes will be required to present a lesson to their students no later than October 25.


English Classes will present Lesson 1 in all classes.

Science Classes will present Lesson 2 in all classes.

Social Studies including AVID & Money Matters (but NOT World Geography or Human Geography) will present Lesson 3.

About the Librarian

Jennifer De Waelsche has been a librarian with SAISD for eight years. This is her fourth year at Burbank High School. Before coming to SAISD, she taught speech, debate, yearbook, and English for Hereford ISD in the Texas Panhandle. She is passionate about technology and is happy to work with teachers and students that want to integrate more technology. She is also a competitive Scrabble player and loves to ride roller coasters (196 so far).


She is the recipient of the SAISD Foundation Inspire Award in 2015 and member of the Texas Library Association TALL Texans Class for 2016. She is an active member of the Texas Library Association and actively presents at local and state library conferences.
