It is hard to believe that Monday is our 100th day of school. From pyramid building with 100 cups to 100 Year Old Dress Ups/aging face generators apps and traditional kindergarten collections...classrooms have many fun and engaging activities and curriculum connections happening throughout the day/week!

On Wednesday, February 8, the district will have an early release day for professional development. Byam's dismissal will be at 11:45 am. Lunches will be available to students to take home if they were pre-ordered.

A gentle reminder our food nutrition is moving to online ordering for our breakfast allotment for students. If you need more information or guidance on how to do online ordering please email Nancy Antolini at antolinin@chelmsford.k12.ma.us. If you know of a family who has trouble accessing technology they can all our school office for guidance.

Moving forward there will be no bell rung at our school day opening. When doors open at 8:50 students can leave cars and buses and enter the building. Reminder for 4th graders waiting outside our modular at AM arrival for our building to open, the adults driving students need to stay monitoring their children until doors open at 8:50 am. Thank you!

Every year the district, as a recipient of grant Title 1 funds, shares school district profile report cards. Below is the Byam school report card letter.

Next week is School Counselor Week, we are fortunate to have Ms. Lyndsey O'Neil with us supporting our school and student population. Thank you to Ms. O'Neil from all staff, students, and families here at Byam School and thank you to all school counselors throughout our district!

While the MCAS assessment is a few months away, we did want you to have our testing dates in advance. Students being present on these days is important for our MCAS participation As these dates draw nearer, we will provide additional information.

ELA- April 10 and 11

Mathematics- May 17 and 18

Attendance to school, outside of serious illness, is very important to ensure student academic, and social/emotional success. For this reason, DESE requires schools to both monitor student attendance rates and inform parents of attendance status, especially if they are not already in communication with our school nurse or school counselor for specific absences due to medical reasons. Some families with students over 10 absences will be receiving attendance letters next week and moving forward, which will include your child(ren)'s attendance summary, so families are aware of their child's total number of absences during the school year. Thank you for your cooperation planning vacations during non-school days and only missing school when students are sick.

Byam is in need of substitute teachers and paraprofessionals. This employment opportunity has flexible days/hours and is a great way to match students' schedules. We often hear, "I want to get involved but I don't know how"...here are a few roles we are looking to fill as we have parents moving to middle school, and just to spread the workload a bit. Feel overwhelmed because you don't know what you are doing? Have no fear! There are currently chairs in place to teach you the ropes and "ease" you into it.
