Rationale:

Text phrasing builds awareness of word emphasis and the impact on sentence meaning, and increases grammatical and appropriate pausing

Phrase instruction impacts word recognition, fluency, and reading comprehension (Rasinski, 2010)

With Thanksgiving behind us and the Christmas season ahead of us, remember that this is a time for feasting for some but deprivation for others. Make a conscious effort to follow Pope Francis’ encouragement to give thanks to God before and after meals. It will “remind us of our dependence on God for life … and strengthen our feeling of gratitude for the gifts of creation.”
