On behalf of all of the Meridian community, we hope that everyone has a wonderful, restful, and safe holiday break and a happy new year. We look forward to seeing everyone back in January!

Before-care will resume on Tuesday, January 3rd.
All afterschool programs (MOMIEs/ YMCA/ Clubs) will resume on Monday, January 9th. Athletics will resume on Tuesday, January 24th.

This feedback will allow us to offer programs that are relevant and engaging to youth and increase participation and attendance in clubs. Elementary School Club Showcase
Students who are wrapping up the fall club season will have the opportunity to present their projects and skills with their families and peers after school. Presentations and performances will be held in person on Tuesday, January 10th at 4:30 PM. Stay tuned for the link to register as space is limited!
Basketball Sign-Ups are Open for K-5th Graders!
K-5th graders who would like to participate in the upcoming season must complete a permission slip (linked below) by Saturday, January 14, 2023. We will be having two teams, for K-2nd grade and 3rd-5th grade. Space is limited so only the first 32 individuals who sign up for each team will be able to participate. With any questions, please contact Athletic Director Tanasha Allen at tallen@meridian-dc.org.

Wizards Winter Reading Challenge
This winter the DC Public Library and Washington Wizards invite your family to stay active and engaged with Winter Challenge! From Jan. 3 - Mar. 31, children and teens (Ages 5-19) can sign up and earn badges that encourage reading for fun, joining library events, sharing and connecting with the library community, and finding fun ways to be physically active. Winter Challenge is a great way to find healthy habits that your family will love and can add to your routine all year round.

“Season’s Greenings” Exhibit at the US Botanical Garden
The U.S. Botanic Garden (USBG) is offering a garden-wide “Season’s Greenings” holiday display through Monday, Jan. 2, 2023. As part of the festivities, G-gauge model trains run between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day in the gated outdoor gardens and the Conservatory features poinsettias, holiday decor, and D.C. landmarks made from plants. The train display and Conservatory will have extended hours until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesdays in December.

Family New Year's Party at metrobar
Jump aboard the "way-before-midnight" train at our family-friendly celebration starting at 4 pm, with festive cocktails from their new winter menu and kids activities and games. Don't worry about the cold: they have fire pits, patio heaters, and plenty of deck heat lamps to go around. That, along with our selection of hot drinks, will keep you warm as we ring in 2023!
