What an awesome ten days of school! Parents we appreciate your flexibility and patience as we work out the best way to drop-off and pickup our car rider students. Also don't forget this newsletter will serve as our main form of communication to keep you all up to date on important dates and events occurring here at WPS.
Tiger Reminders
All car riders Pre-K - 2nd grade should be dropped off in the Car rider line each morning. Parents please make sure that your child is ready to get out of the vehicle as you pull up to the awning. This has helped us during the past few days in speeding up the drop off line.
The School day begins at 7:50. All students will need to arrive to school before the 7:55 tardy bell.
We will begin dismissal at 2:35. Our official end time is 2:45 pm. Please let office staff know if there is a change in transportation by 1:00pm. This gives the office staff time to notify teacher and student of change.
For the safety of our students, parents must enter the building with a mask on at all times. No one will be permitted in the building without wearing a mask.
All WPS students are encouraged to bring their own water bottles to school. All water fountains are stilled turned off.
During morning and afternoon Car rider pickup and drop off, parents are to remain in their vehicles and in the car pickup line. Parents are not permitted to walk up to the building and drop off or pickup their child during dismissal.
Attention Mask
Buses: Masks must be worn and worn correctly at all times on school buses. This is for the safety of our students, drivers, and it will help keep students in school during an event of contact tracing due to a Covid-19 exposure. Thank you for your support and efforts to help keep Martin County School's children and staff safe while on our school buses.
Grade Level Announcements
- All kindergarten students must have a current physical and immunization record by September 22.
We are learning about our name and counting to 50. You can help us out by helping your child write their name and be able to recognize the letters in their name. Also, practice counting from 1-50.
Please send an extra mask each day with your child.
First Grade:
- Please send an extra mask each day.
- Practice tying shoes.
- Practice sight words that were sent home. They will be checked the week of September 27th.
- Please make sure your child has a water bottle with them daily.
Second Grade:
- Please send an extra mask each day.
- Make sure students are bringing water to drink in their water bottles. Juice drinks should only be consumed during snack time.
- Please make sure students are reading at least 20 minutes each night.
- Continue to practice sight words and basic math facts to 20.
Resource:
Media Center: 1st and 2nd grade students who were able to check out library books this week, make sure you are enjoying reading your books. Make sure you know what day you go to the library and be ready to bring them back to library class next week to swap them for a new one! If you have any WPS library books, even from last year, you can still turn them back in. Thanks so much *Mrs. Edwards

Exceptional Children:
The EC team would like to thank all of the parents for their generous classroom gifts of hand sanitizer, wipes, and hand soap. Please continue to send masks with your child.
Student Services:
Please make sure to return all student information sheets and home language surveys that were sent home on the first week of school. If you need additional forms, please notify your child’s teacher.
