The Term Ahead
As you'll have seen from our Key Dates for Term 1, we're looking forward to a wide range of events and activities ahead, including our Swimming Sports tomorrow at Diocesan Pool, in addition to other sporting fixtures and an exciting new PTA fundraising event for the children in Week 7 (details below).
This promises to be the most colourful event we've ever held, and we're sure that it will be a big hit with the children taking part!
Pick-up Etiquette
A reminder that if there are no pick-up spaces available after school, road rules still need to be observed.
This includes yellow lines, drop-off zones and, of course, not parking in neighbour's driveways (which we receive regular complaints about) or attempting to use/block staff car parks.
This is more than just a courtesy to our immediate neighbourhood - it is also crucial to ensuring a safe, hazard-free environment for children walking home. Cars blocking paths and pavements can be more than just a minor inconvenience, and are particularly dangerous for young children trying to pass, so everyone's support with this is very much appreciated.
Elective Absences
Please note that our Policy does not allow for leave to be granted during the school day (other than for medical, dental or exceptional family circumstances). Children may not, therefore, be picked-up early for recreational or extra-curricular activities, tuition, sports, music/dance lessons or language classes when they legally required to be at school.
Our Policy allows very limited exceptions for Ministry of Education-accredited institutions, certain specialist therapists and in-school groups, but not for other paid classes or activities run outside of school during instructional time. Any activity leave during school hours requires prior authorisation (at Principal discretion) by law under the Education and Training Act 2020.
While some private providers prefer to run classes during the school day for their own convenience, this causes disruption (and inconvenience) to teaching, learning and staff here at school, and should therefore be scheduled before/after school (or on weekends). If a provider does not offer this as an option for any reason, we recommend finding a different provider who does!
PTA Picnic Next Week Tues 27th
Finally, it's time for our annual PTA picnic, which we're hoping you'll be able to join us for on Tuesday, 27th February (5-7pm).
This is always a highlight (when weather permits!) and a unique opportunity to meet other families and hang out with classmates in a relaxed, informal setting - all are most welcome to attend, including older/younger siblings.
Look forward to seeing you then!
