The Rebel Crier

As you may recall, last spring our scheduling committee surveyed students, parents/guardians, and staff about our block schedule, including gathering feedback about use of time, work load, length and frequency of class meetings, and other general pros and cons. The committee examined a number of types of high school schedules that would potentially offer improvements to concerns about the block, and maintain characteristics of the schedule that work.

As part of this work, we will trial a schedule next week that:

• has 6 class periods per day instead of 4
• has a mix of shorter and longer periods
• rotates periods so the same period is not always first, last, or lunch period
• maintains REBEL block

You will find the schedule for next Tuesday, October 3rd through Friday, October 6th below.

Monday, October 2nd will be a regular "Red" day, and we will discuss the trial schedule in students REBEL Mentor Monday periods.

Seniors who have late arrival or early release privilege may not have their privilege every day next week due to the period rotation of the special schedule.

On October 12th, all 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students will sit for the PSATs, and all 12th grade students will attend Rebel Kickstart activities with the school counseling department.

This is a morning conference day. All students must report to school by 9:30am.

Seniors will begin the day in the theater.

9th, 10th, and 11th grade students will report to their testing room that they will receive the week of the tests.

Rebel Kickstart and regular-time testing will end at approximately 12:30pm.

Students who do not attend for the full time of the kickstart/testing sessions will not be eligible to participate in any co-curricular or athletic activities that day.

All students, parents/guardians, and other visitors MUST use the main entrance to the building, and may not use the entrance near the South (staff) parking lot or the Dining Commons.

Students who prop doors or let others in through any entrance to the building will be subject to consequences under the Code of Responsibility and Respect.

You will be able to schedule appointments on Zoom to speak with your child's teachers on October 11 and/or 12th. Afternoon/evening conferences will be on Wednesday 10/11, and morning conferences will be on Thursday, 10/12.

PSATs will be administered to all 9th, 10th and 11th grade students on Thursday, October 12. At the same time, seniors will attend Rebel Kickstart sessions with the school counseling staff.

The school day for all students will begin at 9:30, following morning conferences.
