Prayer🙏
Reflections on Your Week
What will you give up during this season of Lent? Below are a few thoughts.
My Lent Prayers: Some things you can do as an individual.
- Each day I will pray.. (Pray) write what you want to pray every day (Divine Mercy Chaplet, read the Bible more, go to daily mass, adoration hour, daily devotional, longer prayer time, etc.) What can I do extra in my prayer life for God?
- What can I give up? (Fast) Usually you give up something that you enjoy —sweets, social media, a favorite food, TV, shopping, video games, a favorite toy, or movies. Encourage yourself to pick something that distracts you from Christ.
- My good works will be.. (Almsgiving) Some examples may include picking up an extra task around the house, donating to the church or to the poor, raking or cleaning up someone’s yard. Declutter your space, support a co-worker in a conscious way.
Virtue of the Week - Self-Control
The Virtue of Self-control - Also known as: Discipline
DEFINITION OF SELF-CONTROLJoyful mastery over one's passions and desires
PRAYER FOR SELF-CONTROL:Dear Jesus, Thank You for all the desires You have given me, because they remind me of the desire in my heart that only You can fill! Help me to control my tongue when I am supposed to be silent; my hands when I am supposed to keep them to myself; my eyes when I am supposed to be focused on a particular person or thing; and my ears to listen to only those things I am supposed to hear.
SELF-CONTROL LOOKS LIKE:- Raising your hand before talking in class
- I will raise my hand before I speak.
Fat Tuesday - February 13, 2024
The colors of Mardi Gras are traditionally purple, green, and gold, and each color has a symbolic meaning:
Purple represents justice: It symbolizes the royalty of the kings and queens who preside over the Mardi Gras celebrations, as well as the justice they are expected to uphold.
Green represents faith: It represents the Catholic faith and the religious origins of Mardi Gras, as well as the natural beauty of the world.
Gold represents power: It symbolizes the wealth and power associated with the festivities, as well as the glory of the kings and queens who reign over the Mardi Gras celebrations.
These colors are prominently featured in Mardi Gras decorations, costumes, and beads, and are also used in the design of the parade floats. They are an important part of the cultural traditions associated with Mardi Gras and the carnival celebrations that take place in many countries around the world.

Sunday Gospel Challenges - Living Our Faith
Justice Challenge - February 11, 2024 • 6th Week in Ordinary Time
This Sunday’s Gospel is about the leper who touches Jesus’ heart. While leprosy isn’t rampant in our communities today, many people suffer from the poverty of relationships which lepers suffered in Jesus’ time. There are people in our own communities who have no one who loves them except God. And they may not experience God’s love because they have no human love to help them recognize God’s love. They are the lonely, the alienated; some are scared, or angry or wounded. Your challenge this week is to take the compassion in your heart beyond your immediate circle of loved ones and extend that compassion to someone who is alone. What can you do as a family or household to bring love into this person’s live? And can you commit to making it more than a one-time act of kindness and care? How can you continue to let this person know that he or she is not alone in this world, that God loves them, and that you do, too?
Care for Creation Tips - February 11, 2024 • 6th Week in Ordinary Time
“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.” –1 Corinthians 10:31. It’s so easy to forget to slow down, savor, and give thanks for the fruits of the earth which nourish us each day. As you eat this week, intentionally give glory to God through your gratitude for the sun, the rain, and the laborers who have all made your meal possible. Give thanks for your food, knowing that many people in this world go hungry.
