Akron Clinic has agreed to come back on Tuesday, May 23 from 8 am to 9:30 am for last call on physicals. If your student missed the first two days, please plan for them to be in the building at this time for their physical.

The last day of school is next week!!

Kinder, 1st and 2nd grade will be dismissed at 12:25 pm on Friday.

3rd grade through 11th grade will dismiss at 12:30 pm on Friday.

The Preschool class had a fantastic time at the Colorado Plains Regional Airport, Hayes Aviation, and Miss Bea Havin. The children were engaged in learning about airplanes, making their own pizzas, and getting their face painted (by Laughing Canvas LLC). A pizza party at the park with families was the grand finale.

The Overland Trail Museum hosted the Akron 2nd grade field trip this week.

The students learned how children lived during the days of the frontier, they learned what kind of games were played in the school yard, as well as, went mining for gold.

Third grade went on their field to iFly. All students got to participate in a STEM activity and have an experience in the simulation tunnel skydiving.

Ms. Hamilton and Mrs. Campbell’s 4th grade students presented their cumulative Colorado History project today in a Wax Museum style. Students began their research on a person that had an impact on Colorado History. They then took their research to create a speech summarizing that person’s life & accomplishments along with designing their own backdrop with pictures and a timeline. Tuesday they dressed up as their Coloradoan and were able to recite their speeches to elementary students and family members.

FCCLA hosted their end of year banquet on Tuesday evening. They celebrated a year of activities and installed officers for next year.

Akron had a great showing at St. Vrain with Ryan McCaffrey setting a new 1A record in pole vault clearing 13'9". Becky Drum also had a personal best in pole vault and the boys 4 x 200 relay improved their time.

State track begins on Thursday and the following athletes will be attending:

On Saturday, the Rams defeated Elbert (4 - 0) and Stratton (15-5). They are off to the the semi-finals against Haxtun on Thursday in Lakewood.

Good Luck at State!!

The Lady Rams had a good day of golf today at Fort Morgan. The varsity had the chance to compete against some 3A and 4A schools. Kendall Velder took 2nd with an 82. Molly Porteus shot a 120, Bibi Davisson shot a 130 and Zaya Wells shot a 140, all three finishing in the middle of the pack of 70 girls. The team took 7th.
