WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE?

The Number 1 on the list of influences that have the highest impact on student achievement is student expectations. If I ask any student from the age of about 8 onwards, “What mark are you going to get on the next test?”, it’s going to end up very accurate. So why do you give tests? I challenge you, next time you give a test, ask the kids to put the mark they think they’re going to get up front. Your job is to mess that up.

You have to remember that the kids set safe targets. For example, when you go golfing over the weekend, if someone asks what score you’re going to get, you’ll probably say, like last week but a bit better? That’s what students do. Your job is to say to the student who thinks they’re going to get a C grade that, look, I want you to set a target of a B grade, and I can help you, and from there, B to A, and A to A+. Raise their expectations and then help them reach these new standards.

SOAR tutoring Tuesdays & Thursdays 4:00 – 5:15. We will provide bus transportation to take students home. We want our students to take advantage of all the opportunities they have to ensure success in their class and STAAR test.

Our PTA will have hosting a fundraiser for a "Free Dress Day" WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2019. Students will have an opportunity to pay $3.00 and will receive a wristband that will allow students to be out of dress code.

GUIDELINES FOR FREE DRESS CODE

• JEANS/PANTS FREE OF RIPS OR FRAYES
• NO BLACK ON BLACK
• NO YOGA/SPANDEX PANTS
• NO CUT-OFF SHIRTS OR SHORTS

As we want for our students to enjoy special activities, we also want to ensure they adhere to the guidelines set.

Biweekly Snapshots

The next campus-wide assessment will be administered beginning on February 28th. To ensure we are constantly monitoring the effectiveness of instruction, the district has implement bi-weekly assessments for campus to administer. Teachers will have an opportunity to remediate students deficiencies sooner than waiting for end of grading period assessments.
