Town Center Parent Newsletter

Join us this Thursday, September 3rd for our Virtual Town Center Curriculum Night starting at 5:00 P.M. Be on the lookout for an email from your child's teacher containing a Zoom link for next Thursday's Virtual Curriculum Night. Depending on your family's schedule, you are welcome to participate in the live Zoom or watch the recording that will be uploaded in the Parent Resource folder of Schoology after the live Zoom. It will be in a presentation format facilitated by the grade level team. You will get a chance to hear about the content and learning experiences that your child will have for the year, along with resources to help support you and your child.

For families that are continuing distance learning for the rest of this nine weeks, we are offering an opportunity to pick up items from the school that will support your child at home. Each grade level has looked at their content for the remainder of the nine weeks and determined items they would like our learners to have access to. These have been compiled into bags by grade level and are available for pick-up via our side car loop on Friday, September 4th from 7:15-8:00 A.M. and 2:30-3:30 P.M. These bags will contain items such as handwriting books for K-3, math/science manipulatives, and materials from our counselor.

Our staff is adjusting their Zoom start times and end times for that day in order to allow families the time to attend the pick-up. If you are not able to make either time due to your schedule, you may contact the front office after September 8th to coordinate an alternative pick up day/time.

**Families that filled out the commitment form to return face to face on September 8th will not participate in this pick-up event.

Starting Monday, August 31st, CISD will be requiring all learners to sign into Zoom using their CISD email address. This change will allow for better classroom management and will limit disruptions in the event the meeting link is shared to people outside of the district. With our date of September 8th face to face instruction drawing near, I wanted to send out some items to help begin to prepare our families that will be returning based on their CISD Commitment Form decision. I will also send out a more detailed email next week to families that will share more specific day to day items for those learners returning face to face.

• Our school building will remain closed and locked to all visitors, including parents. Due to this it will be important to make sure your child has the items that they need for the day. This includes their charged iPad, water bottle, and lunch if they are not buying lunch in the cafeteria.
• Any learners that arrive after 7:40 AM will be counted as tardy, and a parent will need to call the school in order for us to come and walk your child in from your car in the FRONT LOOP since our school doors will be locked #214-496-7800.
• If you are needing to check out your child from school before the day is over due to a reason such as a doctor appt., you will need to pull up in the front car loop, call the school, and wait for your child to be brought out to you. Please have your driver's license ready to present to our office aide when she arrives at your car.
• Our dismissal will look a bit different this year in order for us to practice social distancing, but we will still have both of our car loops as usual for car riders. The front loop will be for cars picking up K-2 children and their siblings and the side loop will be for cars picking up 3-5 children that do not have younger siblings. More news to come on these specifics, but in order to make our first day back most efficient, please have a sign/paper for your front window with your child's name and grade level on it. Your child will come home with a car tag on the first day that we will ask you to use each day after that. It will hang from your rearview mirror.
• At this point, we are discontinuing allowing any "birthday treats" to share with a class. This includes store bought items.

Coppell ISD has created a learning experience about Schoology for parents. To enroll in this course, parents will need to know how to access their parent Schoology course using the email address they use to sign into HAC (Home Access Center). Refer to FAQ for assistance.

Instructions to Access the Schoology course

• Log into http://schoology.coppellisd.com
• Enter in email address used to log into HAC as the username and your password
• Click Log In
• Click on COURSES (found in the maroon bar at the top left hand side of the screen)
• Click on MY COURSES (found in the top right hand side of the screen – just under your profile name)
• Click on the blue JOIN A COURSE
• Type in the following access code: 2Z62V-GRT74
• Click JOIN
