I hope you and your family are able to take time this weekend to honor Veterans. In my home, we take time to honor my father-in-law for his years of service in the United States Marines and cousins who went to Afghanistan.

The city of San Jose, California, will host its 104th consecutive Veterans Day Parade downtown on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, in honor of those who served in the armed forces of the United States. The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and begins near the Santa Clara Street/Highway 87 exit.

Next Friday at 9:00, please come to our Bobcat Community (PTA) meeting where Grace Choi, LASD coach, will come to discuss the district's new science curriculum, TWIG. I hope to see you there!

Lastly, I want to announce and congratulate the Santa Rita Flag Football A and B Teams who both came in 2nd place at the tournament this past weekend! They were able to avenge the earlier losses in the year to make it to the Championship game. We are all very proud of our student athletes for a well fought season.

There will be NO SCHOOL tomorrow; Friday, Nov. 11th.

Every year, we invite prospective Los Altos School District families to join us for New Family Information Night. If your friends or neighbors are interested in learning more about our schools, please pass along this information about our upcoming events!

Will your child be entering Transitional Kindergarten (TK), Kindergarten or joining LASD as a new 1st through 6th grade student in the upcoming 2023-24 school year? If so, please join us for one of our Information Nights this fall or winter. Your child will qualify for Transitional Kindergarten in the 2023-24 school year if their 5th birthday is between September 2, 2023 and April 2, 2024.

What: Our Superintendent, Sandra McGonagle, will present information and answer your questions about our excellent academic programs and classroom instruction in our neighborhood elementary schools.

Meet the challenge! Principal Rafferty is looking for additional families to donate or pledge to LAEF. Gifts of any amount add up and make a difference. If your donation is already in-process via your employer, DAF, or stock, let us know, and we'll make note.

Your donation will fund teachers and staff this school year for STEM, computer science, PE, art, music, library, and mental health counseling.

On Wednesday, November 16th our local elementary and junior high schools in the Los Altos School District will be hosting an in-person substitute information session and training.

When: November 16, 9:00am-11:30am

Where: 201 Covington Road in the Board Room

What: Laura Wiley, Curriculum Coordinator and teacher will share information, tricks, tips, and strategies for successfully substituting in Kindergarten through eighth grade classrooms. All are welcome. To RSVP, email Erin Green at egreen@lasdschools.org

Requirements to Substitute Teach

• A BA/BS college degree

• Fingerprinting and background check

• CBEST Exam-this is going to be waived beginning January 2023

Supporting LGBTQ+ Youth: In Our Families, Our Friendships, and Our Community

Please join us for a discussion with LGBTQ+ author Kristin Russo on supporting and mentoring LGBTQ+ young people in families, communities, and at school.

Our new Universal Meals program will be available for a Grab and Go breakfast between 8:10-8:25, from our new Servery Window (By the lunch tables near the Multi) and eat at the tables. If they do not finish, they can save it until recess time.
