Happy Friday South Community!
We had a FIN-credible week at the South! This included an awesome presentation from the Department of Conservation and Recreation for Grade 1 titled Eagles, Loons and Bears, oh my! A couple of learning experiences s around the school this week were habitat research projects in Mrs. Demayo's 2nd Grade classroom and an MLK Jr. project in Mrs. Daley's Kindergarten classroom.
As a reminder, there is no school on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and we also have an early release next Thursday (12:20 dismissal).

Mrs. Buckley - School Counselor
Mrs. Buckley (M. Ed) joins our team with experience in providing direct counseling services to the Stoughton Community. She has supported youth and their families as a mental health counselor at the Stoughton Youth Commission as well as a school counselor here at the South School during her graduate practicum. As a school adjustment counselor, she will be supporting students individually, in small groups, and conducting classroom lessons. Mrs. Buckley is excited to incorporate social thinking strategies to help build studentβs social competencies through play therapy and evidence-based approaches. Mrs. Buckley enjoys building positive relationships with students to help students learn, supporting academic expectations, and educating with a growth mindset to benefit the needs of all students. Mrs. Buckley is a proud mom of 2 young daughters and enjoys gardening!
Principal(s) of the Day
Principals of the Day - Aria Distefano & Amelia Bellevue were the winners at our Pumpkin Patch this fall and had the opportunity to be Principal of the Day this year. We had a blast!

Update from Nurse Kaplan
As a reminder from Nurse Kaplan, student safety and wellbeing are some of our top priorities. We are still waiting for updated 2023-24 school year medication for many students along with current doctors orders. For students to participate in activities like field trips they need to be cleared by Nurse Kaplan.
Please remember to send in a change of clothing for your child to keep in the classroom or their backpack. There have been many students ( younger and older) recently who have needed clothing from the clinic. It is always more comfortable for students to have their own clothing when needed rather than trying to fit into clothing from the clinic that is too big or not their style. If clothing is borrowed, please launder and return it as soon as possible.
