Teacher... Elaine Moore
I currently live in Murrieta with my granddaughter, Daisy, who is 24 years old and her Burmese Mt dog, Koda. Daisy graduated from Mira Costa College May 2022 with 3 AA degrees and is currently attending CSUSM. She is majoring in psychology and minoring in criminology.
I truly enjoy teaching ESL. What I love best about teaching is that you never arrive; I'm always striving to learn more and be a better teacher. I especially enjoy Escondido Adult School. I can honestly say that every administrator and teacher at our school has your best interest at heart. You are the reason we are here. I want to know what your goals are and help you to attain them. Never give up... keep reaching.
IH & Adv Class Information
Classes begin Monday, August 14th.
The first week to 2 weeks of school will be in person learning technology needed to work online. After the first 2 weeks, Monday classes will be in person in my classroom 210. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays will be online using Zoom.
The AM classes are 9:30 - 11 and the PM classes are 6:30 - 8.
I teach both the AM and the PM classes, so if you miss one, you can attend the other.
In addition, you will need to complete approximately 3-5 hours of classwork on your own each week.
Our class website is on Canvas. The website is etcn.instructure.com.
You should download Google Chrome as your browser if you're not already using it. And, you should also have a gmail address as you won't have access to everything without it.
Your attendance is critical to your success in this class. If you have to miss class, let me know. You should also refer to our Daily Agenda on Canvas, to see what you missed. If you have questions, email or text me. I am always available to answer your questions usually within the same day. Elaine Moore... chatemoore@gmail.com or 760.522.5349.
I do not have assigned office hours, but if you need extra help we can always meet after class or make an appointment when you're available.
What will you learn this year in my class?
Course Description and Class Activities
This course is designed help you prepare for and transition to a vocational course, college, or employment. This year you will improve your fluency and communication by practicing grammar, listening, speaking, reading, writing, vocabulary, and pronunciation. You will apply what you learn through various assignments and projects and by working in pairs and small groups. This class also helps you prepare for the Language Arts test in the HiSET if you're interested in obtaining your high school diploma.
Your attendance and participation is critical to how well you do in class. Students who seldom miss class and participate in the activities and assignments are successful and excell. There is also quite a bit of technology involved in class this year. Do not worry about the technology, do not get frustrated with it. I'll keep going over it until you get it.
Escondido Adult School also requires that all students attending class should have 3-5 hours of outside work in addition to class time. Most of the outside work will be done on your own time and will be assignents to reinforce skills learned in class.
