Did You Know
Did you know…. National School Counseling Week is this week, February 6-10. This week is set
to highlight the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve
school success and plan for a career. Every student deserves a school counselor to help with
academic achievement strategies, managing emotions, and planning for postsecondary options.
School counselors are #HelpingstudentsDreamBig. Akron is blessed with two of the best – Mrs.
Britney Weers and Mrs. Shae Smith. We thank you for ALL you do for our students!
Safety Talk
Margaret Ochoa, J.D., from the Colorado School Safety Resource Center, will be in our school to talk with 4th - 12th grade students about safety with technology and the components of healthy relationships on February 22nd and March 8th. Additional information will be sent to parents through email. Ms. Ochoa will also be available to meet with parents, answer any questions they may have and share resources on February 22nd from 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm in the library. Parents - Please mark your calendars!

Senior Scholarship Night
Regional Spelling Bee
Zach Bowin, Rylee Roseberry, and Colleen McFadden competed in the Regional Spelling Bee in Brush. Kason Brent went as an alternate. All performed well, but only one participant from Regionals will go to state, and that award went to a student from Fort Morgan.
We are proud of these RAMS!
Brain Bowl
The Akron 3rd/4th and 5th/6th Brain Bowl teams competed in the Optimist Brain Bowl competition in Fort Morgan. Several schools from around the area participate in this event, so the competition is tough! Despite best efforts by all teams, none of our Akron teams made the final round but still performed very well.
Thank you coaches Anita Poss and Heather Weis for providing our kids with countless hours of Brain Bowl practices and events over many years!
Ultimate Celebration 2023
This week, Akron students attended the Ultimate Celebration 2023: Celebrate Discovery at NJC. They attended four workshops that taught them about teamwork, individual creativity, their history, and math from the past!!
Thank you to our coordinators, Mrs. Krening and Mrs. Reid, for ensuring our students have many opportunities to learn!
ATTENTION UPK PARENTS!!!!!!
Parents who have already applied for UPK online will be receiving an email in the next few days that allows you to edit your application. The email will come from the system directly to parents who have already applied, letting them know the edits are open. Please check your application to ensure that all the information required is filled out. Some families who have applied didn’t complete their address to include a county. Without a county, the matching process cannot be supported!
