Hot Off the Press! New Information for Reading Academy Participants
No participants can be added or dropped from the TX Reading Academy after October 1, 2020. New hires or teachers who are not currently enrolled will attend the TX Reading Academy in the 2021-2022 school year.
Participants who score below an 80% on any Module Check for Understanding will need to continue to reattempt the CFU until the score is 80% or higher. For participants who score below an 80% on Module Post-test, it is highly recommended that you complete the extra credit activity for that module to ensure that you maintain above an 80% for the course. Extra Credit activities will be released in the coming weeks.
Tips for Success:
- Use the study guides for each module (included in the PPT) as note-taking guides and/or review prior to completing the post-test.
- Attend an open zoom meeting or specific support meeting with your cohort leader to get support or ask questions.
- Take your time as you proceed through the content to ensure that you have adequate time to process the information and implement this learning on your campus.
Reminder: The Teacher Reading Academy Timeline and the Administrator Reading Academy Timeline contain suggested completion dates for each of the modules. Participants who follow the suggested timeline will be completing about 2 modules a month, which is an estimated time commitment of 6-12 hours a month depending on learning style.
TEA Completion Deadlines - Participants must meet these deadlines to be eligible for completion of the Reading Academy in the 2020-2021 school year.
Teacher Participants
- Modules 1-6 and Phonological Awareness Video Artifact must be submitted prior to February 10, 2021. No submissions will be accepted after February 10, 2021.
- Modules 7-12 and Summative Artifact must be submitted prior to the last day of your 2020-2021 Aldine Contract. No submissions will be accepted after July 14, 2021.
Administrator Participants
- Modules 1-4 and Data Artifact must be submitted prior to February 10, 2021. No submissions will be accepted after February 10, 2021.
- Modules 5-12 and Summative Artifact must be submitted prior to the last day of your 2020-2021 Aldine Contract. No submissions will be accepted after July 14, 2021.
Reminder: All Teacher and Administrator Reading Academy participants must meet the following requirements to successfully complete the academy and earn credit:
- Each discussion successfully completed indicated by a grade of "Complete"
- 80% or higher on each Check for Understanding
- 80% mastery or higher on Cohort Leader graded artifacts
Participants who do not meet these requirements will be re-enrolled in the Reading Academy in the 2021-2022 school year with the expectation of completing all the coursework and artifacts again.
