A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal
Happy Sunday GRHS Longhorns,
It's Game Time! Whether that is on the field, on the track, in the classroom, on your tests, or just CHOOSING to make Gr-eat choices...it's time to SHINE!
Speaking of shining, congrats to our Lady Longhorn Softball Team beating Katy Taylor in 2 games in Friday's double header! They are now moving on to round two in the playoffs! Game info coming on Monday! We need you to come out and support them! Keep up the GR-eat teamwork ladies!
It's Teacher Appreciation Week! Although I KNOW our GR Teachers are amazing, I like to celebrate this week as STAFF appreciation week. We all know that it takes a village to keep a high school this size running! What do I need from you? Please reach out by email or write a little note of appreciation for a teacher, para, counselor, administrator, coach, admin assistant, librarian, etc. that has made a difference to you (students) or your student (parents). It may not seem like something that small matters, but these kind words are what MAKES everyone keep showing up for you each day! We love your kids, so let us know that what we (our staffamily) are doing that makes a difference! Thanks for sharing!
Congrats to our 2023-2024 GRHS Prom Queen and King! Also, shoutout to the entire Prom Court, you all looked amazing!
Thanks to all the Longhorns that are helping us make GR (and the bathrooms) a CLEANER and SAFER place to be each day, it's working, and I even had to get MORE Gift Cards! Thanks for your help! Keep it up! (More info in the newsletter)
ARE YOU SIGNED UP FOR DUAL CREDIT FOR 23-24? YOU MAY NOT BE ANYMORE IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW! OUT OF 600 STUDENTS SIGNED UP ONLY 250 HAVE COMPLETED THIS! DEADLINE IS MAY 2ND!
**ONLY ONE MORE OPPORTUNITY TO TEST!**
Please note, you must have passed the TSIA2 (or other qualifying tests) to be approved to take Dual Credit Classes for 23-24. If you have NOT then your dual credit classes will be dropped!
Please log in and see if you have any fines for the additional IDs you had to buy due to not having yours with you. This is part of your dress code and has been a rule all year, make sure you get it taken care of now. I do not want you caught off guard when your exemptions are NOT approved due to outstanding fees. I have included the directions below. Check today and take care of paying it this week please!
Save the Date: Athletic Physicals - May 15th @ RJH!
Keep BEING THE ONE to wear your ID and be in dress code. This is NOT optional, so there is no need to be disrespectful when we are holding you accountable. Rules are just expected to be followed, whether you agree with them or not. That's life. Your everyday choices matter and that includes your respectful body language and good manners...that I KNOW your parents taught you.
ID Weekly Reminder
ID MUST be worn visibly on the top half of your body EVERY DAY! I announce this EVERY SINGLE MORNING. If you cannot find yours please scan the Blue/Yellow QR code in this newsletter, in the classrooms, or hanging in the front of the school service window to buy one. We will continue to do ID sweeps, and anyone without one will be charged $5 and given a new one. This is NOT optional, as it is part of dress code, but more importantly, a safety measure so we can quickly see who belongs and who does not on campus as well as help someone that may not be conscious due to a medical emergency.

It's testing season! Please see the reminder below! Please avoid bringing lunch deliveries since the entire campus will be on an alternate lunch schedule. Early pick ups will be considered an unexcused absence, since we will be going back to regular schedule after testing. Thanks for your cooperation!

HELP KEEP GRHS A SAFE (AND HEALTHY) PLACE TO BE! USE THE TIP LINE TO REPORT UNSAFE INCIDENTS!
Reminder: Do not bring drugs into this building, or I will be asking your parents to join you in your classes and walk you to the restrooms when needed. Longhorns, we are better than this! It's time to make the right choices and finish strong, your classmates and your health is worth it!
Want to help? Here is what I will need on the tip line:
- Name(s) or if you don't know them, a VERY DETAILED description of what they look like/or what they are wearing. (this is very important)
- EXACT time and EXACT bathroom they were in. (We can use cameras to track them down)
- Your name (which will stay anonymous except from admin). If you CHOOSE to help us and we catch them, you will be earning a reward.
