June 9, 2023
Dear Thacher Families:
The rain ALMOST held off for today's Field Day. The last 10 minutes were a little damp, but overall, it was an AMAZING morning. Mr. Rendell and Mr. Henry deserve a hugh shoutout for running such a well organized, and most importantly, FUN Field Day. There were approximately 400 students out on the fields and you wouldn't have known it unless you counted them. We also want to thank the 30 Attleboro High School students who came to help run the stations. Our students loved seeing them! Click the Field Day image below to view a photo album of all the fun!
As we wind down to our final week, I wanted to let you know that this will be the final edition of the Panda Press for the 2022-23 School Year. You will be notified of class placements in the Aspen Family Portal in August. I hope you all have a wonderful summer!
Sincerely,
Frank W. Rich
Principal
This Week in Art
Dear Parents & Caregivers,
As the school year comes to a close, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey your children have had in art class. It has been a year filled with creativity, imagination, and a deepening appreciation for the world of art.
Throughout the year, your children have embarked on various artistic adventures, exploring different techniques, mediums, art styles and cultures. They have embraced their inner artists, and I have witnessed remarkable growth and development in their artistic abilities.
Here are some of the highlights and key learnings from this year's art class:
Mastering Techniques: From painting to drawing, cutting and gluing, your children gained proficiency in a range of art techniques. They experimented with different tools and materials, allowing them to express their creativity in unique ways, while improving skills with art tools and supplies.
Art History: Your children learned about influential artists from various periods and explored different art movements. By studying renowned artworks, we gain a deeper understanding of the art world and the diverse styles that have shaped it.
Self-Expression: Our art class was a safe space for self-expression, where your children were encouraged to unleash their imagination. Through art projects inspired by personal experiences, emotions, and themes, they learned to communicate their thoughts visually and embrace their individuality.
Collaboration and Critique: Working together on group projects, your children experienced the power of collaboration. They learned to respect others' ideas, offer constructive feedback, and appreciate the value of teamwork. Engaging in art critiques allowed them to enhance their observational and analytical skills.
Exhibition and Recognition: Your children's artistic achievements were celebrated all throughout the year by displaying their art in the school and in the community. These displays boosted self confidence and instilled a sense of pride in their creative abilities.
I am incredibly proud of the progress your children have made in art class this year. Their dedication, enthusiasm, and imaginative spirit have been truly inspiring.
I encourage you to continue fostering your children's artistic endeavors during the summer break. Encourage them to use a sketchbook, explore new mediums, visit art galleries, and engage in art projects whenever possible.
I wish you all a wonderful summer vacation filled with joy, relaxation, and plenty of artistic inspiration. I also look forward to welcoming your children back for another exciting year of artistic exploration!
With warm regards,
Ms. Nancy Dickson
Cross Class Collaboration
Miss Marcotte’s and Mr. Blonder’s Fourth Grade classes participated in a joint Social Studies research project. Students in Mr. Blonder’s class researched the provinces of Canada, while Miss Marcotte’s class researched the country of Mexico. Students were able to rotate throughout both classrooms and present their projects being the topic expert and share their knowledge with their fellow classmates!
