SUPPORTING NEWCOMERS
With the influx of new multilingual learners, many teachers have been asking “What can I do to support these new English learners?” This resource from ELLevation helps teachers support our new Multilingual learners upon their arrival. It is a 4 module series that you can receive 1 credit per hour of recertification credit. Please follow the process you normally follow to obtain credit.

GMS FIELD TRIP HIGHLIGHTS
The MLP program at Georgetown Middle School has gone mobile! Thanks to a partnership and grant from Eileen Fleming- Potonay and the S.C. Office of Commerce and Workforce Development, Ms. Williams has been able to bring the classroom alive as our students have traveled to a variety of local Hispanic-owned businesses with bilingual tours to meet student's language needs. Students began their research on college, careers, the workforce and the military in class and several businesses agreed to host them, provide onsite work experience shadowing and future opportunities to network together. Georgetown High School Career Center, Carolina Foods, El Cerro, Jarrito's, Mcleod Hospital, Little River and Embroidery Solutions LLC invited the group of twenty students to their worksites and were all wonderful hosts to our MLP students. This has been an excellent opportunity for students to see how they can work in a variety of careers and industries that are local to us at every level. Students look forward to continued research and figuring out how they can find their niche in the community.
