having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,
Ephesians 1:18 ESV
Today's Guide
When preparing for today, think about the following: Open the Eyes of My Heart, Lord.
Food For Thought
Today's scripture reminds us He is calling us to have a spiritual transformation that allows us to see the hope to which He has called us and to understand the riches of His glorious inheritance.
The only way for us to truly gain insight into who God is and what He has planned for us is through being guided by Him. His guidance comes from opening up our hearts to Him and allowing ourselves to receive His grace with humility and gratitude. As we seek out an intimate relationship with Him, we will start to see things differently, not just spiritually but also physically as well as emotionally. We need to acknowledge that it is only through Him that real change can come about in our lives if we are willing to accept His guidance in all aspects of life.
When our eyes are opened spiritually, we become aware of God's plan for our salvation through Jesus Christ's death on the cross. We learn how much He loves us unconditionally. We also discover how to recognize and receive the hope and blessings that come from Him. With our hearts open, we gain insight into what is to come in this life and beyond, a gift He has already blessed us with.
Gratitude
Gratitude is a key part of being thankful for what we have today and can help us overcome the smallest obstacles, the greatest challenges, and grief in our lives. It might seem difficult, but we should remember how blessed we are as a result of Jesus’ death on the cross; without it, none of us would have access to God’s grace or experience His peace within our souls.
Take some time today to really reflect on all the good things in your life, your space, your community, and your family - even if they’re little.
Today's Prayer
Father, Thank You for helping me see my home is with You! What a day that will be for all who love You and follow You. I think of all who have gone before me now cheering me on, and one day, I will celebrate with them in Heaven. Amen
