Warhawk Culture

Our Warhawk Blueprint outlines what we believe, how we behave and outcomes we hope to achieve together at WCHS. These beliefs are our guidepost that provide alignment in all we do.

As I began to receive all the family photos it made me smile. It made me grateful for our WCHS Family, our "chosen family". A chosen family is defined as people who understand you, lift you up, celebrate you, help you and love you without biological ties. When I look at these photos and walk the halls, I am so proud of our chosen family. Thank you for continuing to show up for each other each day! Have a great week!

Holiday Treats Cook-Off

Happy Holidays Warhawk Staff! It’s that time of year when we say “ehh... I worked out last week so I

can have a cookie... or FOUR!”. In the spirit of the holidays, we are having a WARHAWK HOLIDAY

TREATS COOKOFF! Same set up as the famous Chili Cook-off we had last month; pay $5 to enter your

best/favorite holiday treat (cake, cookie, fudge, indescribable but yummy stuff in a bowl, etc), then

interested sugar starved staff contribute $1 to get a ticket to vote for their favorite treat! Winner gets

half the pot (entry fees and ticket sales) with the other half going to a charity to be determined later.

Bring your entries and your appetite to the lunchroom on FRIDAY, DECEMBER 15th during the lunch

periods. (Maybe some water to quench your thirst too!) Let’s get as hyped up as the kids will be and

taste some awesome holiday goodies!

Staff Holiday Happy Hour

Join us December 20, 2023 for our Staff Holiday Happy Hour from 3-5pm (or longer). The Staff Social Committee will be providing appetizers. Hope to see everyone there to kick off the Winter Break!

WCHS Theatre - Staff Appreciation Night

Meredith and the WCHS Theatre Department would like to invite our staff to attend the upcoming show - The Man Who Came to Dinner. See details below!

December 9th at 7 PM, the Warhawk Theatre Department is offering free popcorn to all WCHS staff members who attend our winter show, The Man Who Came to Dinner! Our hardworking students want to show their appreciation to our hardworking staff, so we hope you'll join us for a hilarious holiday comedy with a free snack just for you! Just go to the concession stand and ask for the Westerville Central staff free popcorn and enjoy the show!

We thought it might be fun to designate a few "staff nights" at some of our winter sports/activities to show our support for our students competing/performing in these events. Hopefully we can get a large crowd at these and many other events!

The Delaware Area Career Center's online application is now open. The priority deadline to apply is January 12, 2024. DACC is also offering open houses. See the below dates and Pre-register here if interested.

*DACC Open House: Thursday, December 7th (4:30-7:30 p.m.)
*Zoo School Open House: Wednesday, January 10th (6:00-8:00 p.m.)

*Equine Science: Wednesday, January 10th (6:00-8:00 p.m.)

The Columbus/Fort Hayes Career Center online application is now open. The priority deadline to apply is December 15th, 2023. Columbus and Fort Hayes are also offering open houses on December 13th.

FAFSA Completion

Financial Aid Parent Meeting recording and slides

It is highly recommended that students and ALL senior parents (step, etc.) create a FSA ID now so that when FAFSA opens, you can begin!
New! Many college Financial Aid offices will communicate with students via the college portal or their college email address. Students need to activate and monitor ALL portals and email addresses consistently.

FAFSA Information and Help Sessions

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a vital part of ensuring that students are eligible to receive federal financial aid. The U.S. Department of Education is making some major changes to the process for this year. Please join us to learn more and get support in completing this process for your student. We have several upcoming opportunities:

WCS FAFSA Completion Nights - All WCS Families are welcome to attend any of the following dates:

January 9, 2024 - Westerville South 6pm-7:30pm
January 24, 2024 - Westerville North 6pm-7:30pm
February 8, 2024 - Westerville Central 6pm-7:30pm

Community Scholarships

Class of 2024 students and families,

After rolling out our Community Scholarships on Wednesday, we have been alerted to two very important updates.

As you know, the 24-25 FAFSA is not open yet. This week the office Student Financial Aid sent out an update, that wasn't much of an update! The opening for FAFSA did not change from their previous announcements, still sometime in December. They did share that submitted FAFSA applications would not be processed until late January, which is way after our Community Scholarship deadline of 1/12. Due to this delay, we have communicated to all Community Scholarship donors that, for the 23-24 school year, we cannot require students to submit their FAFSA as part of their Community Scholarship application. Students should still be working to gather all of the other requirements for the application! Before FAFSA opens, it is highly recommended that all college-bound students and their contributors (parents/step parents) create their FSA ID in preparation.
There is a new URL for the Community Scholarship Gateway (application portal). Each building's Infographic has been updated with the new URL link and the Scholarship Listings have been updated to reflect the FAFSA requirement removal. All future communications will be using the updated Infographics. If you happened to bookmark the Infographic sent on Wednesday, it will not work anymore.
