Happy New Year!
Disability Services Newsletter - January 2022
Message from the Executive Director
It’s a new year, filled with promise and hope. My wish is that you were able to rest, relax, and spend time doing what you love over the break. Our kids are so happy to be back in your schools. I’ve had the privilege to visit several campuses lately and I am so impressed with what I see. Teachers are creating meaningful learning that builds the whole child. Kids are growing and proud of their accomplishments, both big and small. Your principals are quick to tell us how much they appreciate your work and dedication. Thank you for bringing your heart into classrooms everyday. I look forward to visiting more campuses in the coming weeks. If you see me on campus, please introduce yourself. I’d love to meet you!
Respectfully,
Kristen Williams, Executive Director

• SB 89 (COVID-19 Recovery Act) (due April 1, 2022)
Beginning Tuesday, January 18, 2022, the “NEW” option on the IEP Services/Support and Related/Other Services screens must be suppressed permanently.
This is necessary in order for eSPED to interface with another Frontline product called "Service Management". We understand this may not be preferable to some, however, in order for the two programs to be integrated and for proper tracking and billing, each dropdown selection must be properly linked. IEPs are still 100% individualized; the suppression of the “NEW” option will not change that.
See the document "Service Screen Changes" for complete details and samples of how to adapt entries on these screens accordingly.
Congratulations Tonia Wimberley!!

SELF-CARE TIPS TO TAKE INTO THE NEW YEAR
By Kristen
So many times, we think of self-care as something we need to do - almost like a daily chore. That defeats the purpose of self-care. If taking a run everyday clears your mind, that’s awesome. But this type of activity can look many different ways. Here’s a chart with easy ideas for you to mark off or color in to track your progress. Think about how you might use the chart to reward yourself - maybe with more self-care. You’re worth it.
