Falling for the Knight Life
Admin Corner
As Mr. Tyson sets out on paternity leave beginning the week of September 27, 2021, Ms. Melissa Sargeant will step in as Interim Principal and Mr. David Scott, Activities and Engagement Administrator, will take over Ms. Sargeant's AP duties. They will remain in these roles until January 3, 2022. Ms. Sargeant has over 20 years of experience as an Assistant Principal and is currently on staff at JCHS as an Assistant Principal. She most recently served as Interim Principal at Parkview High School from February to May of last school year. She will assume all the duties and role of the Principal while Mr. Tyson is out.
In order for us to provide the most consistent connection, we ask that parents please contact the correct Assistant Principal for your student's last name. The Assistant Principals along with their corresponding alphas are listed below as well as on the school's main webpage.
Ms. Melissa Sargeant, Interim Principal
Dr. Tara Woolever, Assistant Principal (A-Fa)
Mr. Solomon Wright, Assistant Principal (Fe-La)
Mr. David Scott, Interim Assistant Principal (Le-Ri)
Mrs. Alycia Hakes, Assistant Principal (Ro-Z)
Traffic and Pedestrian Safety
Additionally, please adhere to all safety and traffic signs while driving on campus. We've received several reports of hazardous driving while on school grounds. It is most prevalent during arrival and dismissal times. We ask for your patience as students safely enter and exit the building.
Lastly, please keep traffic flowing in the "kiss and ride" lane. Please DO NOT park, or idle, in the "kiss and ride" lane. This stops the flow of traffic in the parking lot and creates hazardous conditions. This includes families that drop off early for the Academies and other special buses. We have requested extra patrols to help with this matter.

School Counseling
* yawn and stretch your arms towards the ceiling or sky (do a fake yawn if you have to)
* alternate squeezing your arms around yourself (like a hug) three times and then taking big breaths three times
* clench your fist and breathe into your closed fingers
* stop, sit still, and clear your mind - stop any thoughts about what else you have going on that day

MAGIC Makers
The MAGIC Makers selected at the September faculty meeting are Addie Jacobs and Mark Brier. Ms. Jacobs, school registrar, was recognized for her tremendous work with new students and families and for being such a welcoming first impression on our new Knights. Mr. Brier, counselor for alpha Te-Z, was recognized for his outstanding work and visibility in the building. As a new-to-Champe counselor, Mr. Brier makes a point of getting into the halls and meeting kids. Thank you to both of these MAGIC Makers!
