At the conclusion of the dance all students will exit the building near the gymnasium. 7th and 8th graders (and their 6th grade siblings) should walk to the back of the building (bus lines) to be picked up. All 6th grade students will be picked up in the front of the building by Door 3.
Pod Talks
The Thompson Middle School administrative team will be heading out to meet with teams of students to review expected behaviors throughout the building. These meetings will not be disciplinary in nature, but rather a way to connect with students while sharing the behavior standards and expectations at TMS.
My goal as principal of Thompson is to develop positive relationships with our students. I want what is best for them, which sometimes involves teaching (and reteaching) skills. As we engage in these conversations with teams of students, please know that we will be positive and direct in our approach. I hope the learning and teaching benefits everyone in the community.
Halloween Costumes
This year at TMS we are going to allow costumes on Halloween (Tuesday, October 31) because this falls on a school attendance day. Here are our guidelines:
If you are going to wear a costume, I also expect that you have come to school ready to learn on Halloween.
All costuming must happen at home. That includes any hair or make-up.
With make-up, we need to be able to know who you are-no full face make-up.
The costume must be school appropriate.
For students, there are no masks or inflatable costumes allowed.
There can be nothing that you carry around that is extra. (ie. props, fake weapons, scythes, clubs, dolls, etc.)
Teachers are expected to teach that day, though they may have Halloween themed lessons. And yes, you will be changing for PE.
There will be no Halloween parties. Or candy. Or other treats. Because you will get enough junk at night if you trick or treat.
After Halloween please only bring a couple of pieces of candy per day. If you bring more, I will get it and I will eat it. And I don't need any more candy. And throw away your wrappers in the garbage.
Veterans Day Assembly
Veterans Day is a time to honor American veterans of all wars and branches. Many of us know, or have known, family or friends who have served in the armed forces to defend our country. This year we are celebrating Veterans Day with a school assembly on Friday, November 10th at 9:00 am to honor these individuals and acknowledge their dedication and service.
If your child has someone in your family, or a family friend, they would like to invite to attend our assembly and introduce to the Thompson community, please fill out the google form below by November 2nd. Veteran's family members are also welcome to attend the celebration. A light breakfast will be provided after the program for Veterans, family members, and students introducing their veteran.
