Wolf Ridge Minutemen & Minutemaids News for 10/9-10/13

Wolf Ridge Students & Families,
It was safety week at Wolf Ridge. Students learned a lot about staying safe throughout this week and participated in safety drills. We participated in a fire drill with the Bunker Hill Fire Department. The firefighters shared safety tips and let students explore their fire trucks, too. Students and staff also participated in safety drills to prepare for a possible intruder in the building. We were able to use the knowledge we gained from our ALICE trainings. I was very impressed with how everyone handled these drills and while we can never be fully prepared, I know we are doing everything we can to ensure the safety of our students.
Ask your child about these drills and talk with them about possible scenarios specific to your home. Do you have a fire safety plan and meet up point in the case of a fire at your house? Does your child know what to do if someone tries to kidnap them or come into your home? While these are all topics we wish we didn't need to discuss, they are very important.

Due to the potential of an overcast sky here are some websites that will be live streaming the total annular eclipse. The Bunker Hill School District will also be streaming the eclipse in the Wolf Ridge Library from 11-1 and is open to anyone who would like to watch this event. The maximum coverage of the Sun will occur around 11:58. We hope everyone enjoys this rare event safely!
