School is Out!! Can you believe it?!?!
As we close this school year, I want to take a moment to THANK YOU all for an incredible year. Through all the change and uncertainty that this year brought, the one thing that stayed was the heart and commitment of our Zilker Community!
Last August, when I accepted this position, I really had no idea that a school this close to downtown, could also be a small town school. Through the spring semester I have probably taken over a 100 people on tours of the building either as incoming families or new teachers and each tour brings more pride in our school. This week more than any other brought hurdles that we didn't expect, but through each one the support that was given to me, our staff, and community could not be matched anywhere else but Zilker!
As I said at our 5th grade graduation, our slogan is "Zilker is a great place for kids" - but really our kids, our community, and our families also make "Zilker a great place for everyone!"
THANK YOU ALL!!!
Community Connection - In person Events this summer!!
We want to hear from you!
All year my plan has been to host In-Person Community Connection events. All year that has not happened. So this summer is the time, and we are making it happen!
These sessions will focus on hearing from you, getting to know me, and uniting our visions for Zilker Elementary. We will organize our time and conversation around a SWOT analysis to ensure we are looking at all sides of our school, honoring its traditions and looking into the future. Check out the picture below to start brainstorming ideas to add to our conversations based on the 4 areas of SWOT.
I have slightly changed the dates below. As I have prepared the event and realize it really does need to be an in-person event to get the highest level of conversation. I did keep one Zoom session for those who need that option.
I am hoping to keep the numbers small so deeper, richer conversations can be had mutually between everyone. As signups occur, if more events are needed those will be added to the calendar. Please use this google form to RSVP for an event.
June 6 @ 1:00 at Zilker Elementary
June 9 @ 12:00 on Zoom
June 14 @ 9:00 at Zilker Elementary
June 14 @ 1:00 at Zilker Elementary
June 14 @ 5:00 at Zilker Elementary
These dates don't work for you - use the RSVP form to let me know!

Lost and Found will be donated by the end of the week! Come get your items!
Message from the extraordinary Abbey Seidensticker
I'm hoping to put together a group of about 7 volunteers to help me tend to the garden over the summer. The goal is to keep the garden manageable so we don't have to do a massive clean-up at the beginning of the school year & the kids can start visiting the garden as soon as school starts!
Volunteer tasks will be mostly weeding & watering. As a bonus, volunteers can harvest for themselves throughout the summer. Last year I had so many cucumbers!
The time commitment will be about an hour, one day a week. If you can't make every week due to vacation, etc., that is not a problem. We can cover as necessary.
