J.P. Vaughan
E.C. Glass has lost one of its biggest fans. "J.P." Vaughan passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 12, 2020. J.P. was a constant at Hilltopper athletic events and, along with his wife Kay, worked tirelessly supporting the students of E.C. Glass High School. As stated in his obituary, "Many generations of Hilltoppers have profited and will benefit from J.P.'s support of the E.C. Glass Athletic Boosters. More importantly, his constant presence in the stands or pre-game pep-talks have had a lasting effect on the players and coaches. In May of 2020, along with Kay, J.P. will be inducted into the E.C. Glass Athletic Hall of Fame for their tireless dedication to the school and its athletes. Also in May, he and Kay will be honored with the Humanitarian award by the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities for their humanitarian contributions." Thank you, J.P. You have left a legacy and you will be missed. The Hilltopper community will be thinking of Kay and the family during this time. #Hilltoppers #ValueTradition

Counselors
School counselors will be checking email throughout the day as my office hours are Monday-Friday from 9:00 am-3:00 pm. School counselors are also available to meet virtually upon the student (or your family's) request. If students would like to meet via webcast, just send their counselor an email.
Students who still need to be scheduled for next school year; school counselors have their course request sheets and will be inputting requests as is. For students who didn't get a chance to meet with their school counselor to discuss course selections, your school counselor will be in contact. Please keep in mind that you still have until June 5th to request changes. Email me with any scheduling questions or concerns.

Class of 2020
Dear Class of 2020,
The E.C. Glass faculty and Staff are thinking of you. When you left school on March 11th, we had no idea that schools would be closed by the Governor for the remainder of the year and that would be the last day your class would be together in our building. We understand that due to the closure, you are missing out on many activities such as prom, spring athletics, senior awards, and graduation. We are working hard to create safe and meaningful experiences for your class as we move forward so we can celebrate your accomplishments. At this time, we are not scheduling or rescheduling any events as we do not know what the future holds. As of March 26, the Governor is not allowing groups more than 10 to congregate.

CONTINUITY OF LEARNING
Our Curriculum and Instruction team is working hard to develop a plan to continue learning during the school closure. We want to let families know that we are going to need time to ensure we have meaningful lessons for you. We hope you were able to benefit from the enrichment packets and resources that were shared last week. We invite you next week to just take a break and resume with learning and lessons on April 6. It is our goal to not rush this process of creating a new learning environment. We are going to focus on restructuring our staff so that we can continue to focus on essential learning. We plan to provide you with scheduled activities, videos, and meaningful learning opportunities that will help keep your child on track in their grade and subject areas. We will have more information coming regarding continuity of learning later next week.
COMING TO PICK UP ITEMS
We know you may need to come get some of your students’ belongings, such as instruments, school supplies, etc. We will be working on a plan for parents/guardians on this and let you know as soon as you can come get these important items. Stay tuned!
