Donuts with Dudes

Being a family-oriented organization, the Sward PTA does a phenomenal job creating events for family members to share with their Sward Eagles. Earlier in the school year, the PTA hosted Muffins with Misses and at the end of September they hosted a Donuts with Dudes event for all of our Sward Eagles to bring their favorite guy to school.

A Smashing Time!

SMASH! First graders in Mrs. Wartman's class are loving their math block. Each day the students work on our math curriculum, addition and subtraction fluency, and they work to build problem solving skills. Mrs. Wartman was helping her students build subtraction fluency by using fun manipulatives in math.

Student Council is off to a Great Start

At Kolmar, Student Council is a very important part of our school community. Students in 3rd-5th grade are eligible to run for student council. Student council is made up of one boy and one girl in each 3rd-5th grade classroom. If students are interested in being a part of student council, they campaign in their classroom.

Erika's Lighthouse Wall of Inspiration

The Erika's Lighthouse Teen Empowerment Club (ELTEC) continues to give OLHMS scholars a chance to make a positive difference at school and normalize mental illness, promote positive mental health, and build a culture of inclusiveness throughout the year.

Kindergarten learns to "Get out & stay out!"

October is fire prevention month, and in conjunction with community helpers week, the Kindergarten class received a visit from firefighter TJ of the Hometown Police Department. On October 5, 2022, firefighter TJ made a guest appearance to teach these students the importance of fire safety.

Cooking with Culinary Club

The OLHMS Culinary Club is cooking up some yummy fun! OLHMS scholars, alongside Mrs. Barry and their parents at home, have been learning about different cooking and baking recipes and techniques. "The OLHMS Culinary Club meets virtually each week to cook and bake together. Students learn about measuring and following directions, along with time management skills.

Story Stones in First Grade

First graders in Mrs. Sharko's class recently learned how to use story stones to help answer the question "Who are the main characters in the story?". Story stones are a collection of stones with pictures on them that are used as storytelling prompts.In this activity students learned how to match the character Story Stone to the illustration.
