Green House

Our greenhouse efforts have been underway for some time. Mr. Pifer states "Students have been hard at work in the greenhouse, starting from seeds, vegetables, annuals and perennials. Everything from alyssum to zinnia with a lot of variety in between. The students also monitor a number of hydroponics systems producing lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and squash. As the weather warms, they will be planting several gardens on site."

Schedule Changes for 2022-2023

The Board of Education approved a change to the Jr./Sr. High School Schedule for the 2022-2023 school year. We will be returning to a traditional model with eight 45 minute class periods. The benefits of the change are listed below:

  • Approximately 32 hours of increased instructional time per class
  • Aligns better with students entering or leaving the district during the year
  • All core classes will meet every day all year

Academic Advisory will move to the end of the day which will:

  • Give all students a chance to complete any work assigned that day with staff in the building
  • Allow for intervention time or assignment assistance
  • Allow for NTCC students to get extra help if needed
  • Allow for NTCC students to join clubs
  • Limit the academic time lost for travel to away games for student athletes

See below for a sample of what the schedule could look like!

Washington D.C. Trip

Mrs. Morris took a group of excited students to visit Washington D.C. During their trip they were able to take a guided tour of the monuments, and see the blooming cherry blossoms. They were able to go to the National Zoo, visit the National Mall, and see the National Spy Museum!

Technology Upgrades

The district is continuing to upgrade technology in order to teach in a world that is constantly changing. Many rooms throughout the district have been upgraded with smart televisions. These new televisions replace the older smart board technology and have the ability to run internet based programs without needing to connect to a computer. They are also interactive which allows students and staff to better engage during class time.

Courtyard Update

Thanks to the help of many of our NTCC students, Mr. Howell and Mr. Martell from the Career Center, and our own buildings and grounds staff, we now have a new concrete pad in the courtyard. Many hours went into this project in order to ensure ADA compliance, and safety for students using the space. The district is now working on getting new picnic tables for the area and the National Honor Society is going to be sprucing the area up on earth day!

Substitute Openings

The district is currently seeking substitute teachers and substitute paraprofessionals. If you are off during the day, and have an interest in helping to enrich the educational experiences of all students, please reach out to the district office for an application or more information!
