Supporting Your Health & Well-Being
January 25, 2022
Dear community,
Welcome to the start of spring semester classes! Whether you have already returned to campus or are elsewhere for this first week, we invite you to take a moment to reconnect as a Cornellian with your community. Let one of the on-campus or online activities highlighted below help you reconnect to people, places and spaces that help you feel connected to the Cornell community.
In community,

Reconnect with People
Whether you stayed in touch with your Cornell friends daily, weekly or not so much during the break, you'll probably want to meet up with them as soon as possible to catch up, compare classes and just have fun! Spending time with friends can be a positive boost to your mental health and well-being, especially during the cold winter months. So, get your social vibe on (while following the University's COVID related guidelines about gatherings, mask wearing, etc.). If your plan involves alcohol, think moderation, have some fun with non-alcoholic mocktails or go classic with warm, comfort drinks like hot chocolate or hot tea.
Enjoy Winter Activities With Others
There’s no reason to feel you’re stuck inside with nothing to do when there's snow on the ground. Layer your clothes, pull on your coat & boots, invite a friend or two and head outdoors (or to the campus ice skating rink), and try one of these activities:
- Make snow people (or snow animals)
- Draw hopscotch onto the snow (you'll probably find yourself laughing while hopping, jumping, and picking up objects).
- Rent snowshoes or cross-country skis from Cornell Outdoor Education
- Learn to skate at Lynah Rink.
- Public Skating will start on Monday January 31, 2022. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from noon till 1:00pm. Tuesday's from 11:45am-12:45pm. Admission is $3.00 per session and Skate Rentals are $2.00 per pair
- Pack hot chocolate in a thermos for any outdoor adventure.

Let's Meditate Together (Virtually)
Let’s Meditate is a free, guided, mindfulness meditation series sponsored by Cornell Health, in collaboration with numerous campus partners.
- Everyone is welcome! Let’s Meditate is open to all members of the Cornell community of all identities, ages, genders, sizes, shapes, and abilities.
- Participation is FREE. You are welcome to come to as many sessions as you wish.
- Find the Spring 2022 Schedule with Zoom links here and join like-minded Cornellians in support of mental health & well-being.

Jump Start Your Semester
Coming back into a full course-load, roommates, campus social life and taking care of your personal needs can feel like a bit much after a more leisurely pace during the recent break. Give yourself permission to ease back in, consider and communicate healthy boundaries and set up health promoting habits before the semester ramps up.
Know Your Resources for Student & Campus Well-Being
While there’s much you can do to take care of yourself, there are also a lot of resources available to support your mental and physical health and well-being, and help support your return to campus, classes, and "adulting."
Please reach out to any of the resources below for information and support, and encourage your friends to do the same.
