Finishing strong
Dear AMS 'ohana,
It is hard to believe that we are in the final quarter of the school year! While it might be easy for students to get lackadaisical toward school and homework when spring is in the air, end of the year projects and assessments give students opportunities to display their hard work and learning. Aliamanu Middle School students are empowered when they recognize the fruits of their labor and the tremendous sense of accomplishment that comes from a job well done! Our faculty and staff continue to work hard encouraging your students to strive to exceed their own expectations and it is gratifying to witness, on a daily basis, the sheer excitement that comes when middle-schoolers realize success is within their control.
As we wind down the year, I encourage you to engage with your child's education and to BE an encourager, too. Remind your student that finishing strong might not be easy, but it will be worth it.
As a staff, we are focused on finishing strong as well! We are continuously exploring techniques and strategies to give our students the best possible learning opportunities. We realize that many of you, as family members, may have encounters or experiences at other schools that you appreciated, and we want to hear from you. Please let us know if you have any insights or ideas as we continue to pursue excellence here at AMS. We are here to serve you, and welcome your feedback at any time.
Mahalo,
Al Hetrick, Proud Principal
Being prepared for Smarter Balanced Assessment testing
Aloha AMS families,
As our students participate in the state-wide Smarter Balanced Assessment testing this month, we ask for your support in ensuring they are ready to be successful by sending them to school prepared to test.
On testing days, please encourage your student to eat a healthy breakfast, be well hydrated, and have gotten a good night's rest. Send your child to school with enthusiasm and let them know that you appreciate them doing their best work possible.
Should you and your student want to practice some test questions prior to their testing day, the HIDOE website HERE will allow you to do so.
Thank you for your support, and Go Panthers!
