Notes from the East Hill Principal

This page provides thoughts and commentary from Susan Meskos, the Principal of East Hill Elementary School in the West Genesee Central School District.

It was another great week at East Hill! As we continue to work hard in the classroom we have also carried out some of our practice evacuation drills as well. Students have done a wonderful job in following through with these, as we still have a few more practice drills left for the season.

I wanted to thank you again for following all of the protocols for arrival and dismissal. As a reminder, please try to pull up as far as possible, even if you see your child (at dismissal), and for safety's sake, please try to have your child enter and exit curbside if at all possible. You might want to consider moving your child's car seat to the passenger side if possible.

If you are picking your child up for dismissal and lining up on the road before coming into the loop- please do not block our neighbor's driveways or mailboxes. Thank you!

IMPORTANT!

If your child is coming in to school late (after the buses have arrived), you MUST walk them into the building and sign them in. Please do not just drop off your child and leave. All doors, including the front doors, are locked and many of our students do not know how to ring the bell for admittance. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Last year, county officials decided to make an investment in the social-emotional well-being of our students as they transitioned back to in-person instruction East Hill is fortunate to have Courtney Honchar as our Promise Zone Student Engagement Specialist. Promise Zones’ vision is ” to increase the capacity and efficacy of service delivery to all students to ensure a social, emotional, and academic achievement.”

At the Board of Education meeting held on September 15, Assistant Superintendent for Management Services, Christine DeMass, kicked off the Special Referendum Capital Project, with architects from King & King also sharing details about the project.

Be on the lookout for more information about an upcoming Community Forum to be held on Monday, November 15, and please save the date for the vote on the referendum which will be held on Monday, December 6.
